2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 – Wild speculation and made up stats

Well, wild-ish anyway and as for made up, we’re pretty sure we are on the money for the new Yamaha, but that’s not half as much fun as making stuff up. So from the titbits we’ve received so far, here’s what we know for sure, what we think we know and what we’d love to see, but ultimately know we’re dreaming:

We know for sure the new R1 has:

  • A big LCD dash, similar to the latest Honda Fireblade
  • A Nissin radial master cylinder
  • Traction control
  • A quickshifter
  • Selectable power modes
  • The YCCT (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) adjustable throttle map
  • LED position lamps

Now let's play 'guess the acronym'

Things we’re pretty damn sure it does have but don’t have the balls to say for sure:

  • Semi-active suspension
  • Launch Control
  • A cross-plane crank motor
  • Some form of weird G-force meter display on the dash

Things we’ve made up but would love to see:

  • KITT from Knight Rider voice integration and turbo boost
  • Gatso-neutralising laser cannons in the headlights
  • Hybrid super/turbo charging
  • Distilled Lorenzo-talent infused into the handlebar grips

The full release date is 3rd November, we’re pretty damn excited and will be running like teenagers to check out the key stats – power and weight, everything else is frippery. For the latest teaser video, click here.
