My 2007 GSXR sometimes makes quite a clunk when it goes into first. Check your clutch cable adjustment and chain, just a little wear could make it slightly harder to engage first, obviously your bike is still bedding itself in.
At the other end of the scale, and I'm not trying to scare you, it could be a bent selector fork, but I doubt it.

I've been wondering, can a tortoise swim?

Not according to 118118!! (can someone lend me a tortoise to see if they're right?)

Pretty much all bikes 'clunk' into first gear!

As someone said all bikes clunk into first gear. Dont worry about it only if it occurs when changing into other gears

re the suggested clunk-just to be clear-what sound *is it* making?

and what do you mean by feel-is it actually hard to put it in gear?

as far as i know the 07rr is not known for being "notchy"
