hey all, firstly i like to say hello as im the new kid on the block, secondly i need some advice. im on the prowl for my next bike, its been a couple of years since my last one which was a 2003 honda hornet 600, i loved it with all my heart and i thought it loved me too until it decided it had enough of life and after a swift visit to a ditch went to bike heaven and me a week long stay in a high dependency unit, i still miss you horny! anyways, im after another bike, ive got around 5 grand to spend, im 28 and due to the shocking insurance prices here in northern ireland i think im pretty much restricted to a 600 for now. im sort of undecided on a zx636, r6 or a cbr600rr all as young and as low mileage as my money will get me. any opinions on personal preference or experience would be really appreciated! sorry for the long message and i hope i havent bored you all too much, thanks for taking the time to read it and hello again!

Welcome.....
The R6 would be a good choice in my opinion. Lovely looking bike as well.

Welcome Micky, I agree with Chappers about going for the R6, it does look fantastic and is a trick bit of kit. The 636 might be a better comprimise on the road, whereas the R6 might be better to take on track. Good luck bike hunting!

welcome mate,
i rode a 636 about two years ago, i spent about 2 hours on it and i loved it, the R6 is said to be a fantastic bike too but i've never ridden one. altho its said to be very track focused and not so comfy on the road, and as i spent some time in northern ireland, i'd say the 636 would be the better choice, some of the roads there in my experience are great around the north coast, and even around Co. Antrim, but as i remember a lot of them are very bumpy, so i'd go for the 636 if i still lived there as the R6 is said to be very 'harsh' on the road

Welcome.
I suppose it depends what lights your fire. For me, the R6 is the looker. The ZX has a superb engine, and the CBR is the easiest to ride. IMHO.
Coming from a Hornet, I really don't think you'll be disappointed with any of them. Or a GSXR600!
Pays ya money, makes ya choice. Good luck

After riding my bro's gsxr600 k3, i'd be tempted to go for a k6 or k7 gsxr600. If that's not your cup of tea though, you wont be dissappointed by either the r6 or zx. P.S. - WELCOME!

hey all, thanks very much to you all for taking the time to replie, much appreciated. to be honest i have been sort of leaning towards the 636, and your right big_al we do have some proper cack roads, dodgier than michael barrymores pool partys but one plus is were still not as swamped with speed cameras like our brothers across the water. anyway thanks for the advice and hello all again.

Welcome. Sorry for coming in a bit late but I've just got back from a ride out with a mate of mine. Anyway, I'm biased and would suggest a Gixer. Comfy and not overly harsh on the road. Easy to ride and if you're a little short in the leg, not too tall. Ride any that you can get hold first, they really are all very different. I wanted a ZX6R but found it gave me shoulder pain after just one hour on a test ride. It also felt quite tall. Good luck with whatever you choose and keep us posted, we're a nosey bunch of gits
