The CBR will last longer, take more abuse, be more reliable, be better for riding around town......... but won't be nearly as much FUN as the RS!

The CBR would be much better suited to London commuting work IMO.

RS125 will cost you more in running costs and you can't really use it properly in London.

Have you though of an XL125?

I'm a great believer in small trail bikes for learning and commuting in London.
Very easy to ride and can take the inevitable knocks better than other bikes.
And you can see above the traffic.

in my opinion stick to a four stroke 125, steer clear of any 2 stroke 125 as it wont last long abd it will cost a bomb in repair bills, i have had both bikes cbr ans rs 125 and both never stopped letting me down stick to four strokes matey turst me lol

I'd go for a yamaha if i were you aparently they are better than both the cbr and the aprilla and is better looking than the cbr. but on the other hand why don't you get a 600 and get it restricted then when you pass your test you already have a bigger bike.

I learnt on a borrowed Yamaha SR125 a few years ago, and that was um, basic. Did the job though.

I'd avoid a fairing if I were you, I dropped my first bike in the post office car park going to get the tax disc, literally minutes after picking it up. Good decision see? No fairing to sort!

If only I'd not dropped it onto the door of an Audi, I would've actually saved some money...

Likewise, I started on one of those. I'd avoid a faired bike for the same reason. You will end up damaging the bike in one way or another, a faired bike is just more hassle to repair. Not only that, those slimey cunts they call bike thieves tend to try and nick nicer looking bikes. Two strokes (CBR125, NSR et al) are a bugger to maintain though, and would stick with four stroke. All the best with your CBT!

rs gets my vote as well

2 strokes ARE worth all the hassle.

Get a four-stroke. The Yamaha R125 if you can afford it. And any four stroke if you can't. The RS is lovely but its more expensive, less newcomer friendly and would be a pain in central London.
