1. Somebody needs to buy Lorenzo a parachute. That wasn't a highside, that was an audition for a human cannonball act!
2. How the hell did Rossi hang onto it when he rode off the circuit and threw the bike violently on its ear while actually on the dirt? Do you think he knew he could get away with that?
3. I felt sorry for Stoner - that gravel trap was like a bunker on a golf course. But he did spit the dummy a bit at some of Rossi's antics after the race as well. I think between Parc Ferme and the podium, somebody must have told him that when Rossi almost ran him off the track in the Gooseneck, it wasn't deliberate, it was just Rossi trying to use Bridgestone slicks on loose sand, because he had calmed down a bit by then...

Rossi was fantastic, he learned from previous races that the way to keep Stoner from pulling away is to get infront of him early, there were a few good battles and great overtakes, but Rossi proved to be the more talanted rider and Stoner threw his teddy in the corner after the race. I thought he was a bit of a prick when he said he thought Rossi was out of order, spoiled little shit!
He may be talented and fast, but shoulder to shoulder he just doesn't match up to the GOAT! Well done Vale!!!!
Stoner - eat my dirt!!!!!!

I see Yamaha have finally sorted out the electronics allowing Rossi to go fast on the big blue paddock bike, which even I could ride and win on. Lorenzo obviously told them to shove their electronics and is therefore a much better rider for it. I thought it was quite boring for the first half of the race and then got really exciting after Stoner trundled into the kitty litter...
*Takes off rider fan club head that blinds my ability to actually see what happens*
Seriously though it's good to see such an exciting race for a change. It's a real shame it didn't stay like that all the way to the end though what a finish it could have been. I can't really tell if Rossi out psyched Stoner (a la Biaggi/Gibernau) or not 'cos they were both so on the edge, and as pointed out Stoner can be a whining whinger anyway (not that that makes him a bad rider) I guess the next few races will tell what effect that's had on Stoner mentally if any. Shame about Pedrosa not racing, with him featuring in the championship race at the moment.
It sets the championship up for a good exciting finish though if it carries on like that. I can hardly wait.
On a different track (great pun eh?) I can't make Vermeulen out. He goes really well in the rain which suggests that the bike is a lot of the problem but then at certain places like Laguna he blows that theory away with a great ride. I suppose it could all be qualifying and start though.

Laguna is not really a power circuit though so the Suzuki doesn't have so much of a disadvantage. They might even be getting the bike together slowly too.
Stoner whining was pretty predictable though eh? Rossi just destroyed him. A perfect example of how great a rider Rossi is. And how determined he is to win this year. Two of those passes were a little Simoncelli I thought.
IMO he stayed upright after his little dirt excursion by 90%pure luck and 10% great skill.

Excellent race! Haven't enjoyed a race like that in ages. It was more like a BSB race with Rossi and Stoner. Shame Stoner fell off, would've been an excellent finale. But, what a cry baby at the end! Just cos Rossi got him in the corners, does he not realise that you can overtake in bends not just on the straights like he does. Get a grip man, stop being such a sore loser! You were part of one of the best races in a long time...f**ks sake!

TBH, I think Stoner was just a little bit miffed that he wasn't able to fuck off into the distance in front, like he's been used to doing. I really don't think he expected that Rossi would stay with him, and I think he was upset that he couldn't make any overtake stick.
And I'm sure that when he views the tape of the race, he'll realise that Rossi bumping him was because of Rossi's gravel diversion, not out of any malicious intent. And then he'll apologise just as publicly as he whinged.
Won't he?

He'd fucked if he raced in World Supersport all they do is bash fairings, Nancy. Altho he's still a better rider than some would give him credit for.

Yup-monsterous talent-lousey personality(but to be fair we dont know what behind the scenes pressure is being put on him, and I dont mean by Mrs Stoner either)

Only just watched the race, fantastic. Can't see what Stoner was complaining about though, every move Rossi made was clean and they are fighting for the championship. As Mr Parrish mentioned it's not a knitting competition! Love that pic of Stoner Chappers. WSS is a place to bash fairings though, Assen and Jonny Rea anyone?

STONER IS RIGHT!! It was an exciting race, great for the spectator, but if they were your championship points on the line you would feel the same. Rossi has been so great for the sport nobody ever really likes to call him out. Just like a couple of years ago when he bunted Sete off right at the end for a win. Rossi knew he had to stay in front to win even if that meant an excursion in the gravel and some ballsy passing that could well have taken them both out and almost did. Unfortunatly for Stoner all you ever hear is that it is the bike and not him and that he is only fast in a straight line. It is total crap what does the bloke have to do to get some sort of recognition for what he has done and still can do.

How about not winging about perfectly fine overtaking moves. He spat the dummy out because he couldn't have it all his own way clearly can't take the pressure, he's done it before in qualifying and practise if he thinks someone is on HIS track he gets his knickers in a twist. Nobody is denying he can't ride in-fact if you check some of the other threads in this section you'll See we have defended him.

Brad (welcome, by the way) STONER WAS WRONG! He's a great rider, on a great bike. One day, he'll be a great champion. Great champions don't whinge about unfair overtakes as soon as things don't go their way. He was on pole, and qualified far ahead of anyone else's times - I think he really expected to ferk off into the distance, and that nobody (not even Rossi)was going to be able to stay with him. Watch the Rossi "bump" again - Rossi went in too hot and had to take avoiding action, and went over the gravel. (Remind you of anything? A few laps later?) He managed to save it, and bumped Stoner in the process. I truly believe (and stated it earlier) that when Stoner see's the replay, he'll realise that there was no foul play going on. A truly great champion would then apologise just as publicly as he complained. I've a suspicion that won't happen, though.......

I agree with you on the Gibernau move but not the Stoner one. That was just one of those things that happens on a track and not an intentional move at all, unlike the Gibernau punt.
I've no great problems with Stoner whinging, they all have their quirks, but if I was him I'd shut up and let the riding do the talking.

lets face it, it wasn't just Stoner's championship points on the line, it was Rossi's too! He knew he had to stay in front of Stoner to prevent him gaining a lead, so he did what he had to do, and that was try some ballsy overtakes, and it worked! He was just riding fooking hard, not unfairly!

Rossi showed the boy, who's the Man...and Stoner's a boy in a Mans world.
IF he's any sort of Champion, he'll bounce back and ride as if he has an Exocet up his Arse... Just have to wait and see if he can put his dummy back in..

I think I saw Stoner do a close pas on Rossi in the opening few frames, kind of pisses on his bleating doesn't it. I hate ungracious losers, ya don't have to like but you do need to accept it. http://www.motogp.com/en/videos/2008/Rossi+Stoner+Laguna+Seca+2008+battle
