MP Aplogises? Surely Not?
      #29461 - 16/07/2008 12:55

Freebie paper Motorcycle Monthly isn't good for much, but this from the current issue:

The MCIA has welcomed a statement by Edward Leigh MP, chairman of the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee, in which he has apologised to law-abiding motorcyclists.
In January, a PAC report claimed that over 38% of motorcyclists were evading payment of road tax. Three weeks later it emerged that the DfT's figures were wildly inaccurate and a new report put the level of motorcycle tax evasion at less than 10%. Mr Leigh was forced to apologise.

Yeah, quietly, in the small print of one local paper somewhere. 'Cos I never saw it.

The simplest questions are the most profound. Where were you born? Where is your home? Where are you going? What are you doing? Think about these once in a while and watch your answers change.

Isn't that typical. Fucking lies make national headlines while the truth is tucked into some two line statement on page 37.

Still if they throw enough shit at us some is bound to stick. Wankers.

Maybe someone should tell the DVLA/my local radio station who are still airing adverts about how us bikers are the scourge of the earth and all riding round with no tax. They also reckon "You WILL be caught" and then have your bike destroyed, be hung up by the balls and publicly flogged, fined £5000 and sent to prison to refelect on the error of your ways. What they don't mention of course is you'll need to ride past a speed camera over the limit first 'cos there's no fucking coppers around any more to spot ya'.

It's still worrying that 10% of bikers are still quoted as evading paying tax. Surely this must be all those twats that ride around on mopeds; wearing tracky bottoms shoved into their white socks, big gold sovereign rings instead of gloves and racing three abreast round mini-roundabouts?
