Help with Gear Change on Yam R6
      #28016 - 15/06/2008 21:25

Hi...I'm having some trouble changing in some occasions from 1st to 2nd. Not that in doesn't go in to gear but just makes a "clunk". This only happens going up..going from 2-6 and 6-1 is fine. The clutch appears not to be slipping as it stalls when the brake is applied. Has any one had the same or any ideas...
Any help will be great! Cheers!

'Taint slipping it's dragging you'll need to adjust or get the clutch adjusted correctly if that doesn't work you may need new clutch if that's OK you could be looking at bent selectors.

Lots of bikes are a bit more clunky going up from 1 to 2. Honda's esp.

It gets worse if you hammer it in first then try and change up.

As chappers says though, investigate the dragging clutch.

Many thanks for your quick response guys!!! Silly question...how do yo adjust the clutch? I've had a look in the hanyes manual but could only find how to adjust the amount of play you should have on the lever....by adjusting the knurled screw at the end of the cable.

Cheers!!!!

I'm not sure how to adjust the clutch to be honest, it's also good to keep on top of your chain adjustment though to minimize the clunking between 1 and 2.

Mine does almost exactly the same thing. I researched the clunky gears, and thats a common "issue" which ive been told isnt anything to worry about.

My bikes going in for a service in july and ive explained how my bike seems to stall at random times. Il keep you posted!
