As the title says, put your oil questions here and we'll be happy to help.
The Year, model, engine and style of driving (road/track) is important so give as much information as possible so that we can give you an accurate answer.
If your vehicle is standard then you will find some guidance and service packs on our website.
Looking forward to being of assistance
Regards
Guy.

I think you might be a little better received if you put your hand in your pocket and pay for advertising, but thanks for the offer of "advice", we seem to have a good base of knowledge of oils on here thanks thanks to MrBiggles and Morepower. Even better the magazine ran an article with the help of DR John Rowland chief chemist of Fuchs lubricants only this month that cut through all the bullshit like a knife through butter.
PS you'd better hope Makkas had his moring cup of tea, he ain't as diplomatic as me.

Okay here goes, do you think rapeseed oil will last longer in a fryer than sunflower oil?
Also which one has the higher smoke point as I need to run the fryer most of the day and "smoke gets in your eyes" as The Platters once crooned.
Thanks for any help you can give....

Oh god, the ultimate oil thread.
Damn I can't think of anything mean to say. I don't think these tightasses read what follows anyway. Would you?

Rapseed oil burns much hotter than sunflower so I'd imagine also has the higher smoke point. If you'd like to register (so we can sucker spam you personaly)you'll find we do a fully synthetic rapseed derivative at £35 for 4 liters + plus postage this will far exceed your requirements but we'll make loads of cash from your dumb ass.

Excellent advice thanks chappers, can't say oilman was much help but I think another chance for him maybe?
When using oil in a sexual/erotic situation is there much difference between Johnson's baby oil and Superdrug's own make. I can't make my mind up which one's better, they are both slippery I think. The sheep don't seem to care much either way. Any advice oilman?

Now this May be one for biggles but I have a penchant for http://www.agentprovocateur.com/massage-oils/index.html and on occasions especially when cavorting with younger women 17ish this worked. http://www.pharmacy2u.co.uk/details.asp?level=1&ref=303122FA&productid=FMKYJ382 I'm sure oilman will be along to give us some definitive advice and some excellent half price DFS (Deals Finish Sunday)style deals.

Thank you for the recomendation as I feel my advice is purely from a laymans point of veiw and personal experience. As oils go I feel Peanut oil is very good and copes well with high heat. OK Peanut allergy sufferers will dissagree but I prefer this for all high heat frying but for things like eggs I personally use a light olive oil. This is a healthy option and adds to the taste of fried foods.....Mmmmmmm!!!
There is my opinion and I live by my reccomedations. But please use the grill where possible if you really want the healthy option.

In fairness to oilman, he did ask for details in order to answer the question - It's an Iveco Box Luton, 2.5 ltr Turbo diesel on an '02 plate with about 85000 on the clock. It has 2 pot fish frying range with a separate chip dump.
I drive it very carefully, especially when the oil is still hot, mainly on the road but sometimes down small tracks depending on where I'm going. It isn't standard though, it's a professionally converted vehicle that started out as the tail lift version, I can't seem to find any guidance on it on your website though....

Can you tell me the optimum temperature to heat cannabis oil to get the best effect from it , and can I use it instead of two stroke in my Kwaka 250 trials bike.

I wouldn't recommend using it instead of 2T as you will leave a wake of wobbly drivers behind you. I've always found Cannabis oil burns well when applied to a cigarette.

I would suggest poaching the egg... But was water is more of a coolant thing and using it for heating in not my area so I cannot really give much advice on times and optimum heat for the perfect poached egg. All I know is water has a lower boiling point than almost all oils and is crap for lubricating engines.
Sorry I cannot help any more than that.......

Oilman,
I'm usually very well lubricated, thank you very much. I'm finding that a nice bottle of Riocha does the job nicely. And there's plenty of good advice regarding wines on another thread.
So unless you can recommend me a good red wine....

I've scrapped it off the bottom of the grill pan now thanks. I also tried poaching the egg didn't work I nearly got caught by the game warden. I hear you on the water thing going on that logic maybe I should boil it in petrol, I'll go spark up the hob now.

I suffer from slightly oily hair, and have tried many shampoos and most recently Neutragena® Clean Replenishing that "rinses clean without heavy buildup" but I find they all leave my hair dry and dull looking. Can you help?

Thanks Chappers, that's a top tip.
My hair is now flowing and manageable with a healthy body and shine, well at least the stuff that I can see blocking the plug hole.

Dear oil man, I wonder if you can help.
During the course of my work I took some close up pictures in low light levels of some very burnt Linseed oil, Oil of cloves and Oil of Olay. The trouble is I mixed up the slides and am not sure which is which. Maybe you could help identify the scans:
 scan A
 scan B
 scan C
