i am fitting a full system, filter etc to my 08 r6 road bike. also do lot of trackdays.
after a bit of looking up on net i am unsure which to fit,
-power comander (and map)
or
-yamaha race ECU.
does anyone no as to which is better to use, pros n cons etc. heard that the race ecu gives better performance but unsure if it affects rest of bike for road? can anyone help me please

Just the view of an ignoramus here (I've never owned an R6 of any year), but with so many articles and tests telling me that the R6 is already too track focussed for the road, I'd have thought that a full on, Yamaha race ECU would be detrimental to it's road manners.
Possibly.
Whereas a full system, PC and custom map could well IMPROVE the road manners.
Maybe.

Both I'd go for an ARATA sytem PC111 and the Yamaha kit ECU altho you'll have to fit the kit loom or get your STD one modified the advantage with the Kit ECU is that you can map the part throttle setting better as you can specify the way the fly by wire opens the throttles getting better midrange, only down side is it's about £350 for the ECU and you'll have to order one you'll find they have a 6 month waiting list, the ARATA or even TiForce have longer link pipes that help with mid range aswell as giving good topend performance as well as keeping the noise levels with in reasonable levels important for trackdays the ARATA has a removable baffle.
I was going to buy an 08 R6 myself but spent the cash on my ZX6r (07)and have just fitted a full ARATA system with PC111 amongst other things, I'm having it properly mapped on Wed but am running a Akro map and it rips, it's like a different bike.

BSD stock them but couldn't be fucked to get back to me.
I got mine through PDM racing I paid about £150 less than list but I did spend a lot of money they supplied all my bits and will be mapping it.
Tiforce are worth a look too http://www.p3unlimited.com/exhausts_sports.htm the link pipe spirals under the sump so it looks stockish.
If you check out the raceways Yamahas in Super Sort they run ARATA.

I was chatting to HM racing and they have seen 120 RWBHP on an 08 R6 with full system and mapping.

just an after thought, and nothing to do with your question, but is it just me or does anyone else think that the R6 is the best looking 600 on the market today? i am keeping my Zed for the foreseable future, a. because i love it and haven't rode it much this year anyway, and won't get the chance til october, and b. the missus is joining me in Cyprus soon for a family holiday, and then plans to go away agin for the halloween school holidays, and again for xmas, so thats wher all my cash is going. But i have been considering buying a 600 next year, and at the mo the R6 tops my scales, even tho its more track focused, it just looks fooking gorgeous compared to its rivals!

It is the scrummiest looking 600 but IMO also one of the best from the box. The 06 one I had oasds of "character" and had a hard edge that many of the others don't have, like a smaller version of my 04 ZX10r with better quality suspension but manageable.
I'm starting to get the same from the ZX6 now.

i like the ZX6, i test rode the 07 model, it was very comfortable to ride, and i love the kwak green. but there was something about the styling that i just don't like, not sure what it it cus is a great looking bike, but i just couldn't put my finger on what i didn't like about the way it looked. the CBR6 is, well a CBR6 and altho it was SB's winner of the 600 test, it just looks dated. The triumph is ugly, the gixxer is very nice but nothing special. So there you have it, that just leaves me with the R6, and i can't find any faults with its looks and styling, never ridden one tho.

The ZX looks dated and slabby. I don't think the exhaust heatshield panel helps I've cut mine down and it looks better. I'll post pics later after I've exercised. laters.

not sure if i think it looks dated, i think maybe it looks bulky. pic would be nice, but i can't view them on this computer cus the administrators block certain applications, i haven't been able to view any forum pics or vids since i came to cyprus. still, no long to go now, i get back to germany in october, and back in the saddle!

Just goes to show how different people see different bikes. I like the look of the triumph, not as good looking as the R6 which I think is the best looking bike available (not just 600s) but I'd put the triumph second.

Yup, I bought a Shiver. The best looking bike in the known universe. 
But I like the looks of the Triumph as do most of the testers who have written about it over the years.
I thought it waas acknowledged to be one of the best looking 600's out there.
So I was shocked when a man of your taste and sophistication didn't like it.

personal taste mate, i just don't like it, i don't think its a patch on the R6 / Gixxer etc, even the CBR looks better than the Trump IMO. Maybe if they brought out a better colour scheme it would improve the looks, but i think it looks a bit bland and boring

I love the R6 but find the other three boring. Especially the Gixer, unless it's black of course.

the gixxer, ZX6 and R6 are my three favorite, and if i had the money in front of me right now i'd be stuck with which one to buy, even tho i think the R6 is the best looker. i've always had a soft spot for the green kwack, and i love the gixxer, but each of them have their flaws, so i wouldn't know what to go for. I test rode the ZX a while back and loved it, i've rode an 07 gixxer and loved it too, but never rode an R6...............eenie meenie minee mo....

I have to agree with big_al re the Trumpet up close I thought it the finish was tacky.
Had some good news today took my bike to PDM to get the PC111 mapped to the ARATA system and it went from 111.3 at the rear wheel to 118.3 I only wish I'd done a STD run and the power curve is pretty smooth and looks linear with no dips or troughs the systems turning nice shades of Blue and straw never really been one for things that look "pretty" on bikes if they don't serve a purpose but I like tempered Titanium.
