Hi All Im new to the site Iv got a problem with the bike cutting out. It woudnt start the other day. All connections and battery o.k. Tried bumping it with no hope then it started with the start button. Within a few miles the revs suddenly wouldnt go above 5 thousand and it cut out. It then re-started by putting choke on full and blending the revs in. Iv done 60 miles since and the bike hasnt missed a beat . Has the fault gone or have I still to worry. Any help is help cheers

I've been having a very similar problem with my track blade. Cut out at high revs, intermittent non-starting, then running fine for several track sessions, then giving up completely, then firing and stalling almost straight away.
I've just traced it to a dodgy connection on the kill switch which has certainly got it going again, whether it has cured the cutting out at high revs remains to be seen though until I visit my favourite disused runway.
You can check it relatively easy by running a continuity test across the relevant connector block terminals. Hope this helps.

Yahoo.... seems the kill switch was the problem with mine at high revs as well as the intermittent running problem. I managed to run it up to the red line in 2nd and 3rd today on a closed private road. I've got it booked for some dyno time next Monday which will hopefully finally confirm it's fixed.
You wouldn't think a broken wire could cause so much trouble.

Nice one. Must feel satisfying to have sorted it.
Intermittant electrical glitches are a real pain. One to add to the basic diagnostic check list.
A bit too late, I now remember I had a similar prob on my 04 R1 and that turned out to be slightly furred up contacts on the kill switch terminals.

Yeah, right.
Glad you sorted it - that's the kind of thing that can drive you nuts for months....

Very satisfying thanks biggles, I still can't get the correlation between a broken wire and cutting out at 9500 rpm. Must've been some sort of high frequency vibration just causing the circuit to break.
Of course it could all go pear shaped on Monday, but it definitely ran up to the red line okay today, more than once, and it hasn't done that without cutting out for about 5 or 6 track sessions. Fingers crossed......
