GSXR750 K3 Jamming Gears (Changing down)
      #33834 - 05/10/2008 14:53

Can anyone help I have a 2003 GSXR750K3 with no issues, recently it has been suffering jamming gears I can change up ok but cannot go back down, the first instance of this I could use 1st and second gear only. Now It's stuck in above 4th, and cannot go lower. Seems ok at startup but keeps changing. Someone said a pin can come out causing this, where is this pin and how can I cure it only worked on cars in the past so a little unsure, of where to access this pin if this is the issue, gears are smooth while working, the gear lever locks and will not move down, up only. I use to ride my bike all year but cannot with this issue. HELP HELP!!

I've heard of the pin aparently it's part of the selector drum. Hopefuly ChrisPeacock or Morepower will have more specific info for you.

Could be many things.

If you are really worried you could drop the oil out and have a look at the both the oil and the magnet on the drain plug(or run a magnet through the sump oil).

If you see aluminium in the oil then it would suggest selecter forks wearing on the sides. Metal on the magnet suggests gear wear (from them not meshing totally).

Niether things you want + would warrant more investigation pronto.
