Hi, i'm 24 and live near York. I've just put a deposit down on a 03 cbr600rr, i've got a good deal from a friend. I've got my cbt on wednesay and am hoping to pass my test by the end of jan. I'm just looking at getting myself kitted out with leathers, boots and a helmet. Any recomendations?

The best you can afford that fits properly.

Any kit is useless unless the fit is bang on.

Go try the gear on and buy what fits, there is a lot of cheap shit out there so beware.
My oppinion of one particular make called Nitro is to stay well clear but that is only my oppinion.
If you are on a budget I'd spend as much as you can afford on a decent well fitting helmet, Fit being far more important than looks or paint job.
Then try some different kit on and go scour eBay a decent quality SH two piece should set you back £100-£150 decent quality makes are Alpinestar, Spyke, Wolf, Furygan, Dianese Spidi, Teknic the list goes on, my preferance has been Wolf and Furygan altho I did buy some Swift leathers last year brand new for £150 they were cheap IMO tho.
Boots can be picked up cheaply my preference is for SIDI Oxtar or Alpinestar.
Gloves try to stay away from Cheapies with metal studs in the palm, metal heats up very hot when sliding on tarmac.
Get a decent Back protector I currently use a CE approved one, Knox are regared as the best on the market one of these and helmet could make the difference should the worst happen.
If you do buy SH kit then check to see if the armour is CE approved if not change it, if the leathers have scuffs change it too. Best not to buy scuffed leathers.

cheers for the replys, i've got a max of 1k put aside for kit. Hoping 2 spend 700 on leathers, boots, gloves and the rest on a helmet. I like the look of the Bell carbonfiber helmet (£280 in a shop near me) os it ne good?

Bell have been in the market for a long time and have a good rep £280 should see you get a decent lid but as I said before fit is more important than form. this time of year will throw up many bargains. I got my Wolf leathers brand spanking new for £350 and they are Kangaroo leather (very light and strong), paid £120 for my Alpinestar SMX+ boots from a mates shop, £90 for my gloves again Wolf Kangaroo and just over £200 for my lid, end of line Arai Astro R.
the highest rated back protector is the Knox contour at CE level 2 for £99 new or you can pick up a level 1 for £30 up

Where did you get the wolf leathers from? I tried on a set at cusworths £500 in the sale (black and blue tho), the kangeroo leathers with the titanium badges were £700. I'd get a apir at that price tho

Cheers for that link, they'd be ideal. Just been to infinity in york to see what they've got, the recomended a two piece. I tried on a 40, the top was to small and the bottoms to long. Custom made may be the way forward for me.
