If I had six months sharing a cell with you on remand, with nothing to do other than discuss how poorly IPC is managing its digital functions, we still wouldn't get to the end of it. One of the main problems appears to me to be a strategic decision to, essentially, write all the software we need ourselves, in-house. This is good because we have control over it. But it's bad because it all takes ages and we're a media company not a software company. Also, we're ultimately owned by a US firm, which is very sensitive about security and 'compliance' online. So anything we'd like to do on this website has to be given the nod by clever folks across the pond. It seems that this doesn't ever make anything happen with any haste. But. Apparently there is some new forum software coming along. I'm not holding my breath... |
