Freebie paper Motorcycle Monthly isn't good for much, but this from the current issue: The MCIA has welcomed a statement by Edward Leigh MP, chairman of the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee, in which he has apologised to law-abiding motorcyclists. In January, a PAC report claimed that over 38% of motorcyclists were evading payment of road tax. Three weeks later it emerged that the DfT's figures were wildly inaccurate and a new report put the level of motorcycle tax evasion at less than 10%. Mr Leigh was forced to apologise. Yeah, quietly, in the small print of one local paper somewhere. 'Cos I never saw it. |
