It's that simple. Is there anyone else out there who is having a hard time putting up an avatar? Or is it only us journos on Macs rather than PCs?

never used a 'Mac' so not sure, but i couldn't do it at first until i then realised that i had to click the check box next to 'Upload Avatar' before clicking 'Save', just one of those little things you miss (or is that just me), if thats not it then sorry, aint got a clue!

one more thing, if your photo aint small enough then it won't show up, try using some kind of photo edit programme to re-size your pictures, like 'Photo Impact' or something similar, plenty of free versions sround to d/load too.
Don't mean to teach you to suck eggs though so if you already know all of this then....well....ignore all of the above!!! lol

No joy here either, and I have a PC. Also, the 'find all posts by author' option in other people's profiles doesn't work, either. You need to give your IT/website people a poke with a sharp stick.

the fact that you get a white box with a cross may mean that your picture is loading but is too big (file size in bytes) to view, try re-sizing, other than that, not sure

most pictures taken with a digicam are too big for this sort of thing!!!

I think Big Al is correct. According to the forum set up, the pic has to be no larger than 80x80 pixels and no more than 10000b/10Kb. If you don't know how to resize the picture, let me know and i'll tell you how to do it. I'm sure Huw Williams or Jayne Toyne will be able to help you out with this one. If not you need to get new Art Editiors lol.
Talking of help, I am writing a new website at the momemt and need a forum to out up on the site. I really like the look of this one and has some great features. I can see that it a free-forum by the ads but I would love to know where it is sourced from. Any chance you could ask your web guys which one it is? Thanks in advance.
BTW: "luv the mag". (Just had to get that one in) I get it monthly and just love it! I also buy your magazine now and again too!.

I may have a possible cause. I just checked some of the avatars that come up as white boxes with a red X in the middle and found that none of them exist in the avatar directory. i.e : http://www.superbike.co.uk/forums/avatars/30640.gif Click this link and you will see that it can not find the image. So, there is your problem: the images are missing from the avatar directory. My avatar is in the directory as can be seen at this link http://www.superbike.co.uk/forums/avatars/30661.jpg. Why they are missing is the question that I can't answer.

you're a spot on fridge freezer(geezer)Bob, Thanks for the offer I resized it before uploading as the site won't accept a file that's too large still no joy. I've got the cure tho I've got a 2lb Irish screwdriver next to the screen.
