Good luck with the first Track day-dont get drawn in-(I take it its at Brands "Druids)".Mind the "small dip)" on the ouside line just as you gas it on to the start/finish straight.

I wouldnt worry too much about Druids, Clearways is the one and Paddock Hill will make you leave some skid marks!! but my way of thinking is if you can spend over 7 grand on a 10 surely you can spend 200 on some tyres but there is nothing wrong with dunlop qualifers! haha see you up there.

Serious point:
Firstly, you want a matched pair of tyres - one won't cut it.
Even more serious point: If this is your first track day, you probably don't want race tyres, you have to be riding bloody hard to get them hot enough to work properly and keep them hot enough to work properly. And cold race tyres are shit. Unless you are intending to lap Brands Indy in well under a minute, you are better off on sticky road tyres. They will warm up more quickly, they will reach operating temperature with less... err... bravery required, and they will handle repeated heating and cooling much, much better than race tyres.
And they will still work to some extent if it chucks it down. Which race take-offs definitely won't.
And you'll have no problem getting your knee down on sticky road tyres either.
If you find that you are getting towards the limit of sticky road tyres on the track, by which time you'll be fast-group fast, then by all means consider race tyres and tyre warmers and all that shite. But for your first time on a track, you really don't want to be doing that.
Hope this helps...
