Mate-Cadwell will not prepare you for it. All i can suggest is that for a week before, you and your mates abstain from alcohol and clean out you bodies. Dont eat stodgy food either. Eat sensibly. You didnt say how long you would do it or if it was a "bike" only track time, But one day isnt enough. Its a hell of a long circuit to learn and cannot be done in a few days so listen to the staff and NOT the "local experts" Dont eat a lot at lunch break and drink just water the whole time your there(except the nite after the last day ) Dont get pulled in to a race-hes probably better than you and wants to get another scalp. my first visit I shit my self and binned a borrowed Kawasaki gently. The second was great fun but knackering. Pace yourself and enjoy.Remember Clarkson got eaten by a bird driving a bleeding Transit so I heard

Yep, her name's Sabine Schmitz - an RMA senior instructor who reckons on having done around 22,000 laps around the Ring to date.

She did a lap in a Ford Transit van in 10 minutes 8 seconds!

I've been. Twice. I've never tried to be quick round there on a bike, and nor would I. I'm a whizz on GT4, though, and I fancy giving it a go in a car. To be honest it's dangerous enough for my comfort level on four wheels.

It is NOT like a trackday. If you fall off on a UK trackday you would be very, very unlucky to die - it's safer than riding quickly on the road by far. The Nurburgring IS a road. A very twisty road with challenging corners and no run-off except very solid armco. And 90% of the people on there are going to be travelling faster than you. Much, much, much faster. And 10% are going to be dawdling around like they are on a Sunday drive. A certain small percentage of them may be upside down, on fire, in the middle of the track when you come round a corner.

If you crash on the ring, there is a very high chance of dying or suffering a life-changing injury.

Read this.

And then consider that from my perspective it is somewhat over optimistic. I've been twice, ten years apart, and both times the circuit was closed during the brief time I happened to be there for an extended period to clear up fatalities.

But on the flip side, it's a serious buzz...

Been there twice great place ,but like kwh says seriosly dangerous, sliders guest house is the place to stay but he gets very busy need to book up early,he will also take you round the track(I believe he is the baron in performance berks).I should try and go in the week not the weekend to many idiots at the weekend. There are allso lots of great roads around the surrounding area. And the armco is owned by a private company hit it and you will get stung.

What they have all said.. read the saftey page ( www.slidersguesthouse.com/safety.htm )and make sure you have all the docs listed on the checklist ( www.slidersguesthouse.com/checklist.htm ).. just in case..

No worries for a few guided laps

Top tip : If you do not have time to look in your mirrors at ANY time while you are on a lap then you are going to fast.. slow down to give yourself the time..

Overtake/ be overtaken on the left only.. and use your indicators to let people catching you know you have seen them.. makes them be a little more patient..

do not worry about timing laps.. it is going to take you at least 50 to remember which way it goes..

The baron.. me.. nah.. I do know him though..
