rear sprocket help please
      #25644 - 08/05/2008 23:26

I'm having trouble finding one.

Anyone know where I could get a 46 tooth rear sprocket for an Aprilia Shiver.
It would be the same as for the Stock 525 Chain Size. Would fit all 04-08 RSVR, '98-'03 Mille, all '00-'03 Falco, '06-'08 Tuono '08-'09 Shiver, and all '02-'05 Tuono.

Cheers.

I presume you have already tried Renthal.

Thanks Chappers.
They don't have anything but AF1 advised I get one made up here. I guess that would be expensive.
I'll keep trying.

You could try this lot but I checked on the online catalogue and the rears only seem to go up to 42.

this might be to much of a faff, but if you can only find rear sprockets up to 42t, rather than 46t. couldn't you get the 42t and get a smaller (ie 2t smaller) on the front? just an idea

The front sprockets are available in 16 or 18 if memory serves me right and TBH you don't really want to be dropping lower than that as it will cause the front sprocket to follow too tight a curve stressing it and causing it to wear out in double quick time.
Makka I have good news tho I have spoken to talon on your behalf today they have a red or gold one in stock in that size part No TR372525746 it costs £20.25p +vat (£23.79) but they can only post to the UK postage to me would be £3-4 and I would have to post on or you could contact:-
John Titman Racing Service Pty Ltd

Thorneside,
QLD 4158

p: (07) 3207 4445
They are Talon stockist in aus. I think they are in Brisbane.

Thanks for that Chappers.
Yup, my front is 16.
Someone here told me 15 is the absolute minimum so that's why I thought a 46 rear would work better.

I had a reply from Supersprox that they are making them and will be ready within two weeks. Their tri-metal stealth looks really good so I might wait for that.
Do you think it is worth it? (It's £44)
My man at the shop can get supersprox from a distributor here in Aus. so he's gonna price them like that for me.

The supersprox seems like a decent route as it has the best of both worlds IE hard wearing and light, as for the price if it lasts twice as long then yep it's worth the money.

They say three times as long and as it doesn't wear so fast you get less power loss than with aluminium.
Sounds good to me.

Thanks BigH but they only go to 45 on the 525 chain.
I'm deffo after a 46.
I don't think one tooth up will be enough.

It will work out in the end.
Supersprox have great customer relations thanks to the beautiful (I'm guessing here) Aneta Pasenova.
