Ducati 848
      #27320 - 04/06/2008 13:02

Saw one of those new 848s today in that icey white today. I was a bit dubious at first when I saw the pictures, but in real life it looks fantastic. I'm glad Ducati have introduced a different colour to the usual Red. (or Yellow and Black).

If you can get a chance, ride one. I did and fell in love with it

I would, but I think my local Ducati dealers are sick of me drooling. I'm sure I lose a few pounds in saliva everytime I go in. I go in for little bits and bobs (which are usually cheaper elsewhere) and spend the rest of day chatting to the sales guys. My Mrs doesn't like me going in too often!

Ducati Leeds, but for some reason they're in Shipley near Bradford! Can't afford to shop in that place anymore. The credit crunch bites, I am being forced to resort to sourcing bits elsewhere for less money!

I'm 6 foot 3 inches, I've a 'busa currently but an exgf of mine recently offered me her 848 at a very good price (that's reason enough to be good to your ex girlfriends). I've only ridden hers for maybe 10 miles a few months ago. Does anyone have any thoughts on how well a lanky guy like me will fit on a 2008 848?

It will be totally crap for you won't fit at all they were built with vertically challenged people like ME in mind.
Whatever you do don't buy it, as a gesture of good will I'll take it off her hand.

Agree with Chappers on this, you may be too big. However as a fun loving person who likes V's, I'll have it before he does

Im 6'2 and I really loved the 848 BUT as the others said it was uncomfortable(and only after about an hour-which was a strange sensation for me as Ive had a 748SPS and had no probs.)I cant remember if the 848 had adjustable footrests-if it has then the one I tried were way up as Im sure they couldnt be that high permanently : Still a top bike though IMO

yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I guess I was secretly hoping that a few people would chime in and say suggest I'd fit on it. curses!

thanks for the input everyone, thanks for crushing my dreams...

An update for the curious amoung you...

The ex loaned me her 848 for my recent 3 day weekend, my wrists are sore, my ankles are numb and my right ball is swollen (why only the right I do not know) but hot damn, that is one fine machine to ride. Corners that I hit all the time on my way to work I breeze through about 10MPH faster with ease as compared to my fastest speeds on the 'busa. All that at a great price but my right nut is telling me NO!!!!

I've considered both of your suggestions and am just debating which one is more dangerous to my well being...

I'd go with Chappers suggestion, they only get you into trouble anyway

I've been wondering, can a tortoise swim?

Not according to 118118!! (can someone lend me a tortoise to see if they're right?)
