Hey all, I own a ZZR600 D1, yup she's an old one but its my first bike and I have only been riding a short while. I do alot of motorway miles and as such when I roll off I get a nice little tank slap and also when I carry speed, I have been told a steering damper may not solve it, but will help, I cannot find anyone that does one specifically for this machine and cannot believe that no-one else has not experienced this, so calling onyou older bikers, help.

Check your head bearings, tyres, pressures and suspension.

What chappers said and your wheel alignment, but i dont think your having a tank slapper, my definition of one is when accelerating hard out of a corner and the handlebars smack hard against the lockstops think your just getting more of a wiggle?

I've had that a few years ago on my old suzuki, turned out to be a dodgy tyre.

Fair play, tyres fine and dandy, head bearings mint, tyre pressures done, and your right, not a tank slap just a "wiggle", still think I could do with a damper, anyone know where I can find one?
Thanks for the feedback.

Still not convinced you should add a steering damper just yet as the "wiggle" you describe is not really normal.
You have done some checks, but have you looked at the wheel alignment?
At the risk of escalating something mild to severe, might also be worth check the forks are not slightly out and check the frame over if this is a new secondhand purchase.
