As official as it can be.Its just been announced by the sports minister on the news(10 mins ago) here that there will be a new venue for MotoGp from 2009(confirmed by MotoGp themselves apparently in a 5 year contract no less) Where?,, Next to my Lake no less-yes my lake,The investor is Spanish(Dorna methinks and so do the jungle drums) So I expect to see some of you over here just to try it at least-Ill even let you swim in my lake

An additional venue?
What if Donnington's deal means it can't host MotoGP anymore? And a deal isn't done with another GB venue? Anyone thinking what I'm thinking.....?

Well its now official-China lost the MotoGp and that we will have a MotoGp circuit next to Lake balaton at a place called Savoly-its so small you probably wont see it on the map-its at the south-west end of the Lake about 20mins from the Lake itself but right next to the main M7 motorway(of course)and the A7(the main road that runs down the south side of the Lake).20mins from Lake Balaton airport(Ryan Air and a few german flight companies)The site does look promising as the plans indicate good facilities/parking and feeder roads-Looks like there will also be a good camp site as the nearest "big" town is Marceli which is about 10 mins drive(bet a few new hotels pop up) And of course you have the Lake -Its also going to have the potential for track days(oh yes) and race schools.The first race is scheduled for Sept 2009 which is a pity cos the holiday season has finished-and the weather can be a little dodgy(bleeding hot and pissing down) If anyone is so inclined to come over for a break and to include the race let me know.

On Tuesday I was invited to a site meeting with 4 other selected members of the "riding" community to meet with Jorge Fernández-Tagle Maine, Eastern European Director of Sedesa and his Hungarian counterpart. They wanted to get the "feel" of what visitors to the events there would want to expect and we had been choosen because we had all been involved in some way with previous MotoGp events in other countries.
In any event the meeting was very informative and I hope from these pictures you will apperciate the enormity and scale of what they hope to achieve-work starts in Nov 08 and the track MUST be ready for testing in July 09.
So if I refer you to the plan above as the starting point. If you look at the top-that small 90° turn-there is a white 3sided square. Call that The Office(N). There is a line running from it to the NNE (a track at the mo) to the "main road" which runs NW to SE. So you come from the motorway(2 mins away) stop and turn left towards the "Office" This is the view from the "main road" SW down to the Office 
You the ride down to the office and this is the view NNE back to the "main road" 
Turn round and face the SW and this oil pump is the site of that white 3 sided square. 
Standing on the pump platform THIS is the entire site of the circuit  (those trees you can see in the distance are the line of trees you can see on the plans at the bottom left hand corner running the whole lenth of the site NW to SE and is a designated "wildlife" hunting area in the winter  As you can see it absolutely in the middle of nowhere  At the mo the nearest petrol station is 18kms away Fly balaton airport is 22 kms away-nearest shop is 20 kms away and the village that gives its land to this project is population 664(07 census) with 68% unemployement albeit only 57% are working age
Lots and lots of work to be done metinks Rossi and Caparossi together with our own Gabor Talmacsi and his boss Aspar Martinez have been heavily involved in the track design. The primary target apparently is that spectators will be able to view the "WHOLE" circuit in any one place so there are no real noticeable dips in the track-its also been designed to be the fastest MotoGp circuit with an estimated average 166kph lap(is that fast compared to others?) and the longest straight is supposedly 880ms long to achieve this goal. But the best bit is that we will be invited back in July next year for the official testing(not by us)-but apparently we will be allowed to have a blast round it.

WHAT HE SAID!!! immy, you do realise that when the track opens for it's first MOTO GP race, you are going to have your home invaded by Forumites.....is there room to camp and do you have secure bike parking facilities?..
Where's the pub, and do you have a chip shop nearby?

wow! I want one. is the design finalised?
looks like it has a high proportion of tight bends for a fast track, also seems to be roughly divided in half-half the track is right handers and half lefthanders-should cause some interesting tyre warming/cooling
