Advice required here forumites.
I did Donington last week and had a bit of a moment when the brakes were getting a bit cooked and the lever was coming a long way back towards the bar. Never experienced it before so I was a bit nervous to say the least!
I ride an Aprilia RSVR (brembos, radial brakes, braided hoses) and I have not changed the fluid or pads since I bought it from new. (Only done 2000 miles as work keeps me busy).
Once back on the road, brakes return back to 'normal' i.e. bloody good. So the question is, do I bother changing the set up? Most of my riding is on the road as opposed to track and I think it may just be because Donington has 3/4 corners where I was braking hard and its a big bike to haul up. So if I don't change the set up, is there anything I can do to prevent it happening again? Also, I believe dot 5 might not be suitable for the road?
Anyway, thoughts or advice welcome.

TBH if you just changed your fluid to new DOT4 and did another trackday you'd probably not have any problems. It's because not time the fluid absorbs a little bit of water and becomes slightly more compressable, you only notice it when pushing hard as the fluid runs much hotter, so you get the fade.

Pad type will make a huge difference to brake fade, in my experience more so than the fluid. It wouldn't do any harm to change them both though.
I use an EBC double HH and they are fantastic especially when up to temperature.

thanks fellas. am at silverstone gp tomorrow so will keep an eye out for it recurring. have service lined up in a couple of weeks anyway to make sure warranty is kept valid and will definitely get the fluid changed. I had those pads on my last bike (cbr 600) and they were step up from oe honda pads. will they be that much better than the brembos?

EBC are good pads but they will rip the shit out of your discs stick with the Brembo STD pads ans just change the fluid ASAP unless the pads are getting thin that will be where your problem lies Big Ham told it like it is.
