Hi Guys,
Please say there is some out there that can help me?
I purchased a 2000 r6 deltaboxII a week or so ago the guy i bought it off had to put a new set of carbs on as the previous oned had been dyno jeted and the brass bushes had gone so obviously the bike was over fueling! The new carbs are from what i can tell and what has been said by the seller are standard they still hav the yellow paint on the adjusters. Now the bike was runnin fairly ok but not perfectly cut out on me once or twice and had problems re-starting the bike it wasn't idleing neither was it reving!
So a mate of mine balanced the carbs for me yesterday revs alot cleaner when in neutral but was miising like crazy in the mid-range when riding, so changed the plugs this morning fit some iridium NGK 10EIX in exchange the current pluggs did need changing totally black at the spark end! I then took it out for a test run straight away to find that it was now even worse missing like a bitch cant take it passed 6000rpm and now its not willing to go anywhere no revs what so ever its overfueling like crazy!?
My next attempt is to change the leads as they do admittantly look pretty worse for wear, or am I looking at the wrong place is there a possibility it could be something else causing the problems, really frustrated now as cant use the bike at all!?
Please help
Cheers
Gareth

No idea whether it has in-line coils but if it does they'll cause those symptoms. Someone on here will know though so keep checking in.
Welcome to the madhouse by the way.

Sometimes known as stick coils. The ignition coil is incorporated into the HT lead, usually as part of the spark plug cap. If one goes it'll give very similar symptoms as a knackered spark plug.

Few questions what was wrong with the way the bike was running on the original carbs to make you want to change them? You say Quote:
The new carbs are from what i can tell and what has been said by the seller are standard they still have the yellow paint on the adjusters.
Are they from the same model year and have you checked all the jet sizes, float heights with the manual and cleaned it microscopically, use a high pressure air line not a needle. I would also soak them overnight in carb cleaner or petrol to soften any gum or dried crap, as for the adjusters I wish fitting carbs etc to bikes was as easy as bolting on and forgetting.

Did you check the fuel tank breather, blocked air filter dodgy float heights?
I must say you are trusting do you know the seller? It may also be worthwhile checking inlet rubbers, filters, Fuel tap diaphram ETC TBH without seeing the bike it's a bitch to try to diagnose.

I don't know wether this helps, but i had sort of the same problem. The bike would start now and again, and wouldn't rev higher than 5k- it would also cut out and i wouldn't be able to get it started again. With mine it was the fuel line - It had kinked and gotten trapped when a garage put the tank back on it Hope it helps. btw WELCOME!

Thanks guys, well he changed the original carbs as they had been dyno jetted and the brass bushes had gone so was overfueling so he got a set of other carbs which still had the standard jets in but he didnt have time to balance it all out etc. but has said that once I get it all sorted he'l sort summut out with me. A little too trusting I admitt but iv been told by a few people that its a very nice bike jus got a few teething probs I guess im guna change the ignition coils sticks next and if that doesn't work im guna also change the micron exhaust for a standard one I have just purchased if all that fails then Im guna have to digg deeper into the carbs i guess, just a little frustrating at the mo. I'l double check the fuel lines im pretty sure they're ok tho.
Could the the Hawk alarm/immobiliser system be contributing as i hear they can do so?

Now your telling us stuff that could have been relevant previously if it has a full system on and isn't rejetted to suit it's gonna run poorly. As for the alarm never heard of it.
