Having just bought a bargin 1999 G1 ZX6R I am trying to find an old superbike review of my bike, any ideas?
Also what tyre pressure do I use, that in the manual or that on the Mets Roadtec tyres?
Finally spongy front brake but doesnt stiffen after use so bleeding does not seem an obvious solution again ideas please.
Its nice to be back on two wheels after a few years away. Now I hear my leathers as they only zip at the back are no use for trackdays, they have to zip 360... I can only find 270 in the local store???

For tyre pressures I'd go with the tyre manufacturers recommended, they make the tyres after all.
Braided lines will make a huge difference to your brakes.
I think you'll find track day organisers mean 270 zip round. I've never seen anyone check yet but it's your skin so be sensible.
Welcome to the madhouse as well BTW.

Have you tried chainging the fluid? Old fluid absorbs water is gets more compressable over time.

I'm with Ham on the brake lines they will be 9 years old by now and thye STD rubber ones will have become less rigid so the answer is braided and new fluid. SB don't have the 1999 ZX6 in the archive but MCN will have reviews on that year just open the site and click on bike reviews chose the zx6 option away ya go. I'm sure I has a set of Alipestar TZ1 two peice leathers that had a zip all the way around.

I have the same bike - the guy I bought it off had fitted the Braided lines and for a 9 year old bike they work very well. The less said about the back brake the better!
As an aside I have done two trackdays on mine ... I was in the novice group but didn't have any issue keeping up (apart from my cousin who is a much better rider and he had a racing tuned R6!)

Thanks to everyone for your answers.
I will investigate braided lines and new fluid at the same time I have clicked the link for MCN review of my bike and found it I am still worried about my leathers, Snetterton have insisted that its 360 degree not 270... has anyone been there recently for a track day and been turned away?
Tyre pressure, I did it today found they were way soft, but then rode off leaving the dust caps behind ---doh---

I have done a track day at Snetterton in 2-piece leathers although I now wear one piece. They were Frank Thomas Strike which aren't technically 360 but I'm guessing that neither are lots of 2 piece leathers. The zipper starts about 2-3 inches to the right of my navel and finishes 2-3 inches to the left, which is more 270 than 360 but what I read as 'all round' zip up. I was certainly happy enough to slide down the road in them confident they'd hold together. (in fact I did twice albeit not at Snetterton).
I've done 3 days at Snett and nobody's checked them, other than a cursory glance, although after today's tragedy they may get more strict. I don't know any of the details but I doubt that leathers were contributory to what happened. Common sense should prevail I'd have thought.

Don't know many details but a rider in the advanced group at a Snetterton trackday was killed today at Russell's chicane. Two other riders were involved but weren't seriously hurt.
Local news said it happened quite early in the day around 9.30ish I think they said, must've been first session. That was the only details they gave. My sympathy to the rider's family, there but for the grace of God.......

Regarding the two piece leathers, the FAQs on MSV's website says "You will also need full leathers – either a one piece or two-piece with full waist zip".

Dianese do two types of zip together leathers.
One has a much thinner zip and only goes about 300, the other goes near enough 360 and is pretty much up to full leathers standard.
The advantage of the ones that go 300 is that you can match different sized waist to chest-the thicker zip ones are only sold as a pair.
It is a touch late now, but I picked up a couple of serious bargains 3 weeks ago at P&H mcs near Gatwick as they had a real money off Dianese sale. If you are near it might be worth a try.
