Hi just wanna know (sounds a stupid question) i have 9 points on my licence from driving a car will that stop me starting to learn to ride a bike, i mean is that too many points? i am seriously considering doing my cbt then direct access course does anyone know? thanks

Hi there,

As far as I know the amount of points does not stop you from taking another driving category test (i.e motorcycle). And if your over 21 then direct access is available to you.

I would check with the DVLA or your local motorcycling training school if you want more clarification, just dont get disqualified as that will make learning to ride a bike more complicated!

No, it's not, but it will make insurance somewhat expensive, especially depending on what the points are for.

However, if you have problems with self control, and/or spotting cameras, then you'll be banned within days of buying your first big bike. Or, if you try hard enough, before you even get that far...

thanks for the responses guys, to be honest i have been unkucky with my points they were all for minor offences all in the last year benn driving for 5 years with no points then suddenly i get caught out three times o well, anyway thanks again hope to be asking bike related questions about my bike in the future
