You may have read my stupid question about oil in the tech department so this may seem like another stupid question! does anyone know how to switch the clocks from KPH to MPH? I ahve been told that it is just a case of getting the button combination right but as I dont have an owners manual I dont know how to do it, the bike is my track bike and it is a 2003 R1 it is not vitally important to ahve the clocks reading MPH but it does bug me slightly so if it is easy then I would like to do it. Any help will be grately appreciated (again)

On my 1998 R1 to change from mph to kmh (or vice versa) on the speedo procedure is as follows:-
Ignition on.
Press and hold select button for approx two seconds. You will see display change from kmh to mph.
Release select button.
As above to change back to kmh.
Although my R1 is a 98 model, I would imagine it's the same for the 03.
Hope this helps and welcome to the forum BTW.

Same on my '06.

Cheers Chip.
I reckon he may have a non-UK or USA model (see RR's response on oil question), as according to my owners manual the mph to kmh switchover only works on UK and USA models.
I found it quite useful when riding in Europe on a couple of occasions over the last few years.

Cheers guys I think I am going to have to check that out, not that it makes much difference I shouldn’t be looking at the clocks on track anyway! I knew that someone would know what to do on here it is a very useful forum with some quite knowledgeable people! Thanks again.

dont bother changing your clocks, when you're riding, divide the speed by half, times by four, add all the numbers together, devide by the amount of numbers, take away 5 percent, add three, devide by half, and bob's yer uncle!

I am hopeless at maths, but did you know that all the multiples of nine add up to nine, (18 1+8=9, 27 2=7=9 etc) I think it's magic. No idea how it works. BTW my top speed appears to be 7mph and thats what i am going to tell the magistrate if necessary.
