BKS/Frank Thomas Leathers.
      #31767 - 08/09/2008 16:14

For anybody that gives a fuck I'm shopping for new leathers at the moment and enquired at Laguna MCs in Ashford regarding BKS leathers as to weather they are made by Frank Thomas andf labeled BKS or if they were made by the factory. Lagunas told me they were definately made by BKS. I checked with someone at BKS and they are made in Pakistan for Frank Thomas but were desgined by BKS.
So there you have it BKS clothing is nothing to do with BKS leathers, needless to say my moneys going on either a set of Arlen Ness Kangaroo or I'll be going up to Harpers in Essex to have a Wolf leathers suit made to measure.
Oh Lagunas can whistle if they think they'll ever see any of my money.

Oooohhhh Arlen Ness leathers look the dogs danglies!!! And resonably priced too I think, although still out of my price range at the moment. What do you think about their boots, I've been looking as I don't think my Sidi's are going to last much longer.

Not as good as their leathers I'd stick with SIDIs, I'm looking for a new pair too but something with ceramic or non sparking metal (Magnesium) toe sliders.
Which limits me to Sidi (V Corsa has Ceramic) Alpinestars (you can buy Magnesium sliders) or certain Daytona boots I ain't that rich.

I am impressed with the Sidi's. They were very comfortable from the box. The Alpinestars (can't remember which ones, about 160 quid) felt a bit tight across the foot.

why would that make the bks leathers rubbish tho? bks jus dont have the factory space to mass produce like alpinestar ect. the fact that they are designed by bks means the techniques used by them to stitch together fabrics which they are known for would still be employed just by a subcontractor to keep costs down.

I was really impressed with the look of the BKS leathers. To me they look as well made as any of the obvious brands, just not the same sort of kudos..

The person I spoke to wanted to make the distinction clear that BKS and BKS clothing were seperate entities. BKS has no controll over QC or quality of materials used in construction. Depends if you want the real thing or a badge really.
There are big differances in the quality of leather used in different suits from good quality close grained leather to cheap leather that is weaker than felt as is the difference in stitch spacing and quality of thread.
At the end of the day buy and wear what you like makes no odds to me.

Personally I use Hideout stuff, no kudos at all, but tough as hell.

I used to use Frank Thomas gear but have recently downgraded (who'd have thought it possible!) to Spada stuff.

Leastways, I can never be accused of All the gear, no idea although I'm still open to Shit gear, no idea I s'pose.
