Had a superb ride out today...Mrs and Me went out up around Mid Wales for the day, what a blast....out to Abergavenny..up to Builth Wells...dry and warm at last...Got onto the Beulah road again, but this time rode it from Buelah to Newbridge on Wye......Amazing again. Twists ,turns...uphill, down some very steep downhill bits..... I think it's numbered the B438...I may be wrong on that count though.....No real fuckwit car drivers to spoil it.......Even the Farmers in their Tractors were waving us past when the road was clear..
No Coppers..and it was one of those rides where everything just flowed nicely.....
Tired but happy.....

Bugger!
I didn't get to ride today. I just couldn't face taking my bike to the shop for it's recall/MOT without cleaning, polishing and adjusting just about everything. I can't stand the thought of any mechanic thinking that I don't look after it. So, after 4 hours of TLC, I just couldn't bring myself to make it dirty again. I almost WANTED it to rain - but no, I've just wasted the best Saturday for weeks.

You ain't on your own, I just got my shiny new WP suspension fitted yesterday all ready to go and I've woken up with stinking fucking cold. I See how I feel tomorrow altho I'm not up for a half ass ed bimble, if I do go out it will be without my one piece as that's been adjusted as I put on a fair few Kilos whilst I was laid up with my broken ankle. Glad you had a decent ride Shiny didn't get ur assed kicked by the Mrs yesterday then.

Mind if I borrow that excuse next time my Mrs takes the piss when I'm struggling into my leathers?
That is, of course, if I get the chance to wear them again before winter.......

I had a nice sunny ride over to Brighton yesterday on the 'Blade to watch assorted bikes and cars thrashing the 1/4 mile up Madeira Drive followed by a pleasant ride home in the evening sunshine.
Favourite bike was this one

This one's especially for shiny, as it's his thread.

Oh and hi to the nice ladies from Red Bull and thanks for the freebies - perked me up no end.

Decided I'd had enough of sitting at home feeling crap and wasting my time talking to oversensitive people with a chip on their shoulder on the Internet so decided to take the bike out and test my new suspension. I didn't go too silly as I was only wearing leather jeans and textile jacket but to start the bike felt better poised altho a tad low at the back. The damping is so controlled now, I felt I should be able to count every stone in the tarmac it really highlighted how crude the STD suspension feels IMO, there was no pinging back of the front end coming off the brakes, the bike was just easier to ride I was confident enough just to keep the speed up and concentrate on joining the dots. The rear shock seemed to react well to bumps altho it did kick me out of the seat once but the faster I rode the better it worked. I went along the canal road between Rye and Appledore where the bike was utterly brilliant, altho I might reduce some high speed damping on the shock and front forks I'm sure as hell not touching the low speed damping either end just yet, the whole cornering process from braking to driving out was totally controlled, wish I slapped on some sliders. Can't wait to do a trackday now.

Who CAN you be talking about?
Surely not on THIS forum?
Sounds like you've got the ZX sorted nicely. Looks like today will stay dry - the Blackbird is off to CJ Ball in Norwich this afternoon, and I just called them to confirm my courtesy bike. It WON'T be a Hornet! All very mysterious, they'll only say that it'll probably be "something better". Ride home COULD be a lot of fun..........

My leathers have got a little tighter around the middle as well!!!!
I just tell people that it's due to air pollution, and the slight content of Sulphuric Acid in Rainfall has caused my leathers to shrink a little...Work on the plan that "Bullshit baffles Brains"

Something better?
CBF600N! 76 bhp and 43lbs/ft. Being used to double this, I decided to use all B roads for the trip home. I've never used a gearbox so much in my life! Plus, I'm used to really heaving the big old 'Bird around the twisty bits, and I'd forgotten how little effort it takes to flick a small, light 600 from side to side. Yes, it was a laugh, but I really can't wait to get my bike back...... if only for the bloody wind protection!

Update......... The Blackbird is back. Thank God. Clean and polished, PCV valve sorted, MOT passed. Treated like a human being (they called me sir!), they passed on a few tips about Blackbirds that I hadn't heard before, and even gave me a "heads up" on the much anticipated (but still awaited) all new, V5 engined 'Bird. And the cost for all this (including courtesy bike for 24 hrs)? £38.
Only one fly in the ointment really. Whilst I was there, another two customers were returning courtesy bikes. VFR800 and a CBF1000(S?) -with a fairing. Shit.
I WILL be using CJ Ball & Sons again.
