Highside at Brands Hatch
      #33119 - 28/09/2008 20:57

This is a picture of my bike after a highsie at Brands Hatch last Thursday, I am about to remove the front end to get it in the van! I managed to start the highside coming out of the final bend on the GP circuit onto the start finish straight and came down beside the bike but still hanging onto the bars (no I didnt think I could still save it!) whilst heading for the wall I thought I had better let go!!! I was ok (just some bruising) but the bike suffered a little!!! oh well best get the spanners out then!

Didn't by any chance start as you were exiting the dip. I did the same thing on an R1 1998, wiped that bike out too.

Cheers Shiny,
I thought I had bust my arm as I was tumbling through the gravel but nothing wrong with me! I did feel a bit of an arse though as they cut my leathers up to my shoulder so thats a little more expense getting them fixed!
Hopefully I will have the bike ready for next year, that Brands day was supposed to be my last of this season anyway I just hadnt quite planned to end it that way!!!!
oh well as you say at least I was able to walk away from it albeit slightly battered and bruised.

Mate,
I came off on a diesel slick...run into A&E....The ambulanceman had only been trained by my wife!!!!

The DOCTOR who was of Ethnic origin ( I'm not racist in any way, shape or form) tried to cut my leathers off...

I did make a few not very nice remarks, My WIFE, who was in A&E at the time, hit me in the head, as I was in a neck Brace, told ME to shut the fuck up, and cut my ALPINESTARS 1 piece off me.... ...And wondered why I was pissed off with her?

Then the DOCTOR tried to cut THROUGH my KNOX spinal armour................The WIFE then slapped him... And asked him what sort of Fuckwit he was
" As my husband has come off his bike, he's annoyed already, do you want to piss him off any more, I'VE had to take his leathers off him....are you tired of life"

She's a good girl..

If you walk away it's good...

The frame looks ok (although I have to have it checked to make sure) it was the top yoke that snapped and the bottom yoke twisted, one of the fork legs is bent and the radiator has been pushed back into the header pipes causing some unusual shapes! I ahve already sourced some replacement forks and yokes but the headers are causing a bit more of an issue as they were Acrapovic evolutions headers and not that easy to come by! I was wondering if they could be repaired as they have only been bent out of shape, anyone had any experience with getting header pipes reformed?

I know with expansion chambers it was possible to plug them up apply a high pressure air line and heat the damaged are failing that fill area with water chuck it in the freezer.
you could have a chat with Cambell exhausts:- http://www.campbellcustom.co.uk/
or Gibson exhausts:-
http://gibsonexhausts.co.uk/
Motorliner in Maidstone are a recomended company for both frames and fork legs.
