Ho Ho Ho,
Well here we are again, just a few weeks until Christmas, soon all of the madness will begin and we will all be busy preparing for huge dinners and shopping for gifts for our loved ones.
I would like to propose a ride out with a difference, The Little Haven's Hospice in Essex, is a special place that cares for very ill children, and gives them a more comfortable life. Often, the children that stay at Little Haven's are there for just a short while before the illness takes them. Little Haven's really makes the difference to the children and to their parents at this very difficult time in life and gives some comfort in a crazy world.
I would like to propose a ride in aid of Little Haven's, and I ask that you bring a new toy, wrapped and marked with girl or boy and the age. We will ride to the hospice and deliver these toys in person and bring some smiles to the children this Christmas.
The ride details:
Meet at Thurrock Services car park, with your toy or donation at 11:30am Saturday 13th December 2008. At 12:00 hours we will then ride to Little Haven's Hospice in Rayleigh to deliver in person.
Little Haven's have asked that we buy 'creative' or 'make and do' type toys.
Tea and coffee will be available at the hospice, and wrap up warm!
This one is for the children, who's with me?

That tugged a heart string. I'll endeavour to be there I've also found a link on their website for donations, a very worthy cause IMO why wait for Christmas. http://www.littlehavens.org.uk/default.asp?id=7&ver=1

13th December is now marked in my diary - Mum lives in Rayleigh, so I'll ask her about laying on several cups of tea, shall I?

I'll be there with at least one mate...
Little bit stuck on what I should be buying, but I may have to do an impulsive trip into Lakeside Toys 'R' Us...

Thanks for the link.
Cannot make the ride out but have sent a bung that should equate to a few hods worth of Leggo (man I loved *my* Leggo).
Have fun, take some Scalextrics, they have bikes now too!

That's a great idea with the lego- and they do Duplo for younger kids too?
They always have motorbike racers!!!
Such a shame we don't do more for the kids; there are so many charity runs, but it'll be nice to make a direct difference.
Sure I can manage a burn out or two for the older ones!

Thanks for the support people, can you convince a few others to come?
It is for a great cause and is now only a couple of days away!
Fancy dress is welcomed but optional....look out for Santa.

Think there could be a few Santa's....
My mate with the GSXR has already bought his St Nick costume and I'm picking up mine tomorrow from good ol' Romford Market.
Unless you can get oversize superman costumes???
Looking forward to seeing everybody at Thurrock; 11:30am

I tried a couple of years ago to video a kids charity event, and was told that I needed the written permission of the parent of EVERY child present before I was even allowed to take a photo.......
Sad, but true.

Press passes all ok, the BBC are videoing so they have all the paperwork sorted, the hospice have the rest of the paperwork sorted so it's all good.
thanks for the heads up.
I will put a link on here after the ride so you can all see the vids and pics, thanks everyone for your support.
If the weather turns nasty - bring the car and still come, the kids are waiting for us.
Thanks, see you in the morning!

Well boys and girls....
Who attended the run on Saturday and braved the frankly appalling weather?
I'm ashamed to admit I didn't waterproof my pressies and had to deliver some pretty soggy boxes...
Goes without saying Mike was there (well done, mate, good job well done) but anybody else from here?
