Did I miss the Creature from the Black Lagoon
      #37199 - 09/12/2008 09:27

I was having breakfast at MacDonalds this morning(sunny-blue skies but only about +5) when a rather ugly funky thingy was ridden into the Carpark-I have to say Id never seen anything like(except it had Honda on the side) it so it took a bit of time to find what I think it was on the Net.
I think it was this

Seems its been avaliable since the begining of this year but I dont recall SB mentioning it.
I dont know if I love it or hate it. Seems to have a small engine although the bike is quite large

Honda's weird scooter thing. DN-01.

I seem to recall SB mentioning it.

Linked brakes, twist and go with buttons for gearchange IIRC.

My local dealer has one in the showroom - it's NOT a scooter, the salesman said so! It's huge, and the Honda man got VERY upset when I compared it to a scooter - he pointed out that it's got 17" wheels, shaft drive and a V twin engine! And weighs 270-something kilos! (Although I can't think why he thought this was a selling point).
It does have constant variable transmission and no clutch, and only a single disc at the front, so as far as I'm concerned, it's a 680cc scooter with big wheels.
And is uglier in the flesh than in any picture......

I am buying one next year, as a trackbike, it's perfect.
