Next year's firebike .... your thoughts please.
      #37212 - 09/12/2008 13:00

OK. Picture the scene. You're wandering round Brands Hatch for the opening round of BSB enjoying the warm sunshine * /throwing snowballs at your mates *(delete as appropriate) when you find yourself walking past the Think! stand.

Which of the latest crop of 2009 sportbikes is gonna make you want to detour from your mission to purchase an over-priced burger and a warm coke to have a chat with a fire service representative about all things BikeSafe, have a look at the rear tyre and ask the usual What's it like to ride? type stuff?

Why do I ask? Well, we are in the fortunate position of having a choice of bikes for 2009 and I'd really like to get your views.

As with previous years, the bike will be dayglo'd up with Fire Service insignia.

OK. The options are:-
Whaddya reckon ?
You may choose 1
Yamaha R1
Triumph 675
Honda Fireblade
Suzuki GSXR 1000
Kawasaki ZX10R
Makes no difference - I'd come over for a chat anyway

Hi Brig. I've been busy with work type stuff and I guess I've kinda neglected the old forum for a while. Still, I'm back now.

How are you doin' and have I missed much?

Not exactly, but now you come to mention it ...... although I did look in on the forum a couple of times and it did appear that someone had been neglecting the old SB forum gene pool chlorination duties a tad.

I am trying to be very objective about this but it ain't easy.

Is the new R1 going to have the same impact in 2009 that the Blade had this year? I'm hoping yes, it'll be like 1998 all over again.

Welcome back young man........

Some contamination did manage to get through, a good verbal cleansing by Chappers and some less than polite shouting by Moi and a few others....has hopefully rid the Hallowed pages of this forum of the infection that was RSB....

R1. With all this talk of the new crank plenty of people will want to know how it rides.

welcome back FJ!
It has to be the R1-I hope it does not turn out to be a lemon.

You know they won't be having WSB at Brands this year-such a pi55er to have to schlepp up to Donnington.

FJ - how you been?
It's gotta be the R1 if you want folk to wander past the other bikes and come for a chat.
It's already generated loads of debate and interest - shit, even I've enquired about a test ride, and I generally ride big, heavy hypers.
No other 2009 bike will attract so much comment and interest.
And it might even be a great ride, too!
