Hi,
Just bought this bike after writing of my Kawasaki zx12 r Love the sound of the V twins any one got any servicing tuning data or write up on it, thought they were supposed to be a bit scary but it is very tame (so far)

It's the 97-98 TLS that had IMO an unwarranted reputation for being an animal. Maxton used to do a fork and rear shock conversion for them other than that the usual PC and exhaust is standard fare on them.

Even the TLR is still a bit wayward. Get one with sorted suspension (Ohlins, Maxton etc.) then you're on to a winner. They seen to be very cheap too.
Also consider a 2002-2003 era Mille.

My last bike before I left the UK was a TL1000R. It did need a bit of stuff done to it-I had Ohlins rear shock:re-sprung/valved front forks(original set up to bouncy): re-mapped fuel system: PC: K&N Airfilter. And if I recall correctly 1 less tooth on drive sprocket(but kept the rear wheel sprocket the same-this made it accelerate faster at the cost of some top speed) but messed up the speedo readings so I had it marked with the true 30/70mph points-Scorpian(humm definately not road) exhausts Then some cosmetic stuff-ie colour matched painted/polished wheels- Lost those awefully HUGE TL1000R Graphics and replaced with more subtle "1000cc V-Twin". Well I think it looked good and it did go well
Yellow was always the best colour IMO And BTW-check to see if the seat hump lock has had the modification to stop it blowing off and beware-the earyl ones didnt have a baffel in the fuel tank so when the fuel was low and you braked hard-the engine starved and cut out-that was a arse Not sure if Suzuki finally recalled them to have a baffel fitted as I sold it in 1999.

They were scary, 10 years ago.
Things have moved on since then.
The TL1000S was considered shaky unstable and liable to chuck you into a ditch, now all bikes are like that.
Mind you, plenty fast enough to get you in trouble if you arent on your game....
