Theres an article i the online magazine GPweek http://mag.gpweek.com/ Racing through the credit crunch, one of the interviewees is Paul Butler the IRTA chairman(?) I found this statement from him an eye opener, ''Virtually every every big production bike out there is capable of being turned into a racer That is like a very nice insurance policy. A simple rule change would then make bikes like the WCM eligible. The grid would have to go down to 12 riders to trigger this.

I think the WCM had an engine based on a Yamaha R1 and a road version was used for testing. The engine used to race had a cassette gearbox, so was substantially different.
