This really is open to everyone, and I'm glad of everybodies opinion:
I've decided my 2007 R6 has got to go. I can't afford track days anymore (certainly can't afford to race) and to get my kicks on the road I'm constantly riding too fast and recklessly.
I've been offered circa £4300 for my bike in trade and would like to pick up a £3000 bike which I can have the occasional sunday wobble on. Some of my friends have 600 sports bikes but are very new riders.
I can keep their pace on a far slower bike, but I don't want them to leave me on every stretch of straight road.
I've been thinking about:
SV1000, SV650, Kwak Z750, Aprilia RSV, Firestorm, Ducati Monster and 900 Hornet.
What does the forum think? I'd like tidy handling, reasonable brakes and enough grunt to be fun.
Cheers!

Well said that man.
I've owned both.
You can get earlier Mille's for very little money now. I got my mint 02 model for 3k and that was last year.
B1H prices are also quite low at the moment. 2.5-3k will get you an average example. 3-3.5k will get you a FSH low mileage minter. 2k will be high miles and tatty.

I'm so glad you guys have said about the rsv-r!
I actually nearly went to look at one last week but decided not to and hold on for a bit.
I'm doing trackdays at Rockingham (April 11th) and Mallory (May 15th) and would've rather used the R6 as I'm familiar with it, plus it's got new GP Racers on it, rear sets, a PC111 and Micron system.
I've seen an RSV-R which has got strong mileage on it, 24,000.... How reliable is the Rotax lump?

Bullet proof from what I understand. When I keep a constant throttle just over 4000rpm it reminds me of the sound of a V1 (german flying bomb from WW2) pulse jet.

Yep, the dry sumped unit in the Mille is bomb proof, it's the starting system and battery you have to watch.

As long as the second is in good condition then the first will be fine. RSVs and RSVRs can have a charging issue caused by the brown plug on the regulator/rectifier plus there is a mod that helps reduce resistance in the charge circuit from the regulator/rectifier.

This is all good stuff to know, thanks guys....
Geoff, you're right; ideally I'd love to keep the R6, I bought it new for over £7000 and I love riding it....
..fast.
Riding it slowly is a complete chore, and as long as I have it I'll want to either ride like an idiot or do track days. I honestly do think the R6 is one of the best looking sports bikes on the market, and I'll miss it looking all sexy on a sunday morning, but it's all about the money.
Argh! I hate blimmin' recession...

I have a friend that absolutly loves his SV1000. It has a Leo Vince exhaust and sounds great.
