I'm deeply saddened to report the felling of another of our brethren through enjoyment of the A537, Cat & Fiddle Road, between Macclesfield & Buxton.
Details are sketchy at the minute, but the rider was airlifted to hospital at about 15:30 this afternoon, Sunday 28th March.
A red car was involved in a head-on collision with a black motorcycle. Another rider reported that a "blue ST3" (believed to be a Focus ST) and the red car had "shot past him" about half a mile before the site of the crash. The red car reportedly crossed onto the wrong side of the road after a left-hand bend. Having hit the motorcycle dead centre, neither was readily identifiable, and somehow, the rider ended up underneath the rear of the car.
My thoughts are with the injured rider and his family. I hope he's still with us!
My deepest appreciation goes out to the nurse who was the first medical professional on the scene, who happened to be in the right place at the right time, and to the Paramedics & Air Ambulance crew whose rapid response would've given him a fighting chance. And last but not least, to the Police who had to deal with the incicent & clean up the mess.
I'll post updates if I can find them.
No doubt someone will try to blame the biker...

It's about time for proper punishment to those who cause such accidents;- assuming the facts are as reported, what are the chances of the car driver receiving a custodial sentence, even if brought to court? But, exceed a speed limit..............on a bike.

But then all the bikers that go too fast around a corner and onto the wrong side of the road will go to jail too. And I bet there are loads more of them. Personally I always use the part of the road nearest the curb on blind corners, especially on a road that might attract boy and bike racers. You just need to choose your lines better.

Been no mention in any news articles since the incident, so my mate & I took a run back up there last night...
No tributes present, so (fingers crossed) it looks like it was serious but not fatal. Skid marks from the car start and end on the bikers side of the road, just before a right-hand bend. The car either came into the corner too fast & ran on, or tried to overtake, contravening the solid white line and without adequate observation...

String the idiot up by his danglies!!

I always find these kind of posts slightly odd. To refer to a complete stranger as "brethren" because of a shared interest in bikes seems pretty childish to me! I don't wish any bad will on anyone, but just because this fella rides a bike doesn't make him a saint, certainly not on my terms anyway! I feel no attachment in any way to this guy, other than the normal human emotions any reasonable person would feel given the situation! I ride bikes cause I like 'em, not because I want to be part of a gang. Don't get me wrong, the motorcycle community on the whole appear to look at the world in a way I can certainly relate to and I appreciate that. I'd be lying if I said I'd never had the cockles of my heart warmed by the sense of fraternity amongst other bikers and that's just another reason for me to enjoy riding. But I just don't get posts about individuals we know fuck all about! I'd like to think that whoever was involved is fine and they can resume a decent life, that's what I'd like to think. But it's equally easy to think that whoever was involved was a low life and maybe deserved it in some way. As unpalatable as that may sound, just because he rides bikes doesn't make impossible!

DITTO....We are all individuals who just happen to ride bikes.....THAT is the only thing that we share an interest in........
We all lead very different lives...the common denominator is the bike.....
