thats funny I have just bought one.

it's an ATC5k action camera.
this is the update to the ATC3 and has a mini lcd screen on the back, and a slightly wider angle lens, and a remote control-I nearly bought the ATc3 but that had no screen and a shorter record.

Really glad I got the one with the screen otherwise it would be very confusing, plus you can replay what you have shot instantly. It has two vid settings VGA (better quality) you can record 2 hours of vid, or on QVGA that goes up to 3+ hours.

You can record direct to the cam but it is better to stick a 4GB SD card in as you get a much longer record time.

I have not really tried it out much yet, but am impressed with the variety and ease of the mounting systems, it seems robustly made, the record and still buttons are easy to use with gloves (the switch on and menu select buttons are small -probably deliberately). It records sound too pretty well (you can choose two levels). very bright clear picture in daylight, not very good in low light levels. There is also a still camera button.

Works on both a Mac and PC-on the PC you get a touch more softwear-you can even use it as a web cam. Basically it is robust a battery powered waterproof webcam.

So I would give it four out of five stars. Only slight negatives are fixed lens/no zoom, and low light capability is not good.

Thanks biggles I'm watching one on ebay although I'm not sure myself what the picture quality is like and have heard that it's not brill but then that's from other camera manufacturers.
I've been also been looking ay these two.

Although I'd need a 4G card to get any decent recording time I'm might hire one for tues depends if they get one in stock.

Just incase it's another one of my passing fads.

Yeh, I know what you mean about the quality.

It is 640x480 on screen, I would say, think of what your average webcam does and that is about it. Adequate but not spectacular, best in bright light.
Looked at another way it will produce quality on a par with 99% of what is on youtube

For me I liked that it is all, very simple, self contained, water and shock proof, no wires or connections.

Well Biggles I opted for the dogcam kit 3 on the below link turns out my video camera has an AV in socket and fits in the pillion seat compartment and is far better quality than the solid state ones on offer. Just hope I haven't angered the gods of superstition.
If I survive Tuesday I'll post up a video.

well done, that looks like the biz. very definitely better quality than mine, although I was looking for a simple go anywhere cam rather than something for the bike.

looking forward to the vid

I do get carried away sometimes when I'm buying gadgets But it was the best quality picture for the least cash and having the Camcorder made all the difference.

Interestingly enough-I saw a WRIST cam for sale in a bike shop-I promise you its true Seems you strap it on yer wrist(No shit Sherlock) twist it sos it points the way you want to go and off you go-best then you dont fit it to the right wrist then (sky/ground/sky ground: And dont forget to take it off when you feel inclined to disappear into the bog with the latest copy of Readers Tarts(or what ever )
