I've just read the story on the main page, how fucking stupid is this country? A Professional who is respected in their field and has a firm job offer in the country can't get in due to Visa problems, but some scum sucking slimebag who stowed away on the back of a lorry gets to cry political asylum and sponges off the state or works illegally. Josh you'd have been better off coming over illegally you'd have had more rights mate.

Come on gents, let's not topple over into the foaming-mouthed intellect-lite 'Daily Mail' camp. If some fancy-sunglasses racer, or more to the point, his team and management, can't sort out some simple paperwork then whose fault is that? Duh!

Good point Alan I did get somewhat overly pissed off about it all.

fair point, but its not as though he was trying to sneak in.
surely they could have granted him a temporary visa untill the correct forms were filled in.

And maybe everything is a little more complicated than the daily mail would have you believe? Don't fall for the corporate propaganda that wants EVERYONE to hate EVERYONE else. Divide and conquer. You know it makes sense.
Find out for yourself on the net. And don't give me that crap about it all being rubbish. Yes there is rubbish but there is also good stuff. It is an entire world of information which we can use to find out the truth about anything, with a little intelligent research.

Don't think it helps - if his paperwork is wrong then the rules now say that he has to go and apply for the right visa or whatever at the embassy in his country of departure. He can't do it here any more. Designed, I think, to discourage people from travelling without the right paperwork in hand in advance.
Personally, if I'd just stepped off a £1,000 23 hour flight to be told that I was on the next 23 hour flight back to Oz, and then another one back again, I'd be a little hacked off... doubly so if it turned out it was my own fault. If it was my prospective employer who had screwed up, at least I wouldn't necessarily lose a weekend's money and might get my additional ticket costs refunded.
I imagine that if it was his fault, the telephone conversation with his new team would have been a little... fraught.
