Rear sets...
      #41382 - 16/04/2009 11:34

At last just about to fit some rear sets-only a year after I planned to

I have found some Valter Moto fully adjustable ones, that have (for me) the added advantage that they are foldable (I back my bike out every day).
The foot rest is fairly pointy and has a rubber rest, so might be a tad better in the wet. Plus two leverage settings for the gear lever so that you can set firm and positive or smooth , erm but less positive.

Any comments on them?

The others that are in the frame (same price) are the Harris fully adjustables, which I know look sexy.

Both sets cost around £250 at the mo in black.

I've used these in the past http://www.diasec.co.uk/
and am currently using a set of Satos on my Aprilia http://satoracing.com/rearsets07gsxr1000.htm
I'd give Gilles a wide berth crap too much flex.
out of the ones you have listed I'd opt for Harris, although like the Diamond security ones even if the finish wasn't the most hard wearing they have super grippy pegs.
The best set I've ever had were Promach bloody expensive though.
I've tried a few sets because I tend to fit them to all my bikes as I find the STD pegs on most bikes slippy and too low(I put most of my weight through the pegs whilst getting a wiggle on)
Only other make I can sort of recommend is DBR http://www.motorcycle-performance-parts.com/ but the pegs are very short and have an aggressive serration on the top but smooth on the outside edge where I normally put my weight I sorted them by hacksawing and filing some serrations on the ends the ripped the hell out of my soles though.
None of the rearsets I've bough allowed for a rear brake light Bar the Harris ones but that was way to much a PITA so I never bothered you can get a banjo/brake light from most anywhere.

Thanks Chappers, really appreciate it.

You think the Valter Motos will flex? I don't like that they are also listed with demon Tweaks, but seem to fit the bill

You find the Sato's okay gripwise-I tend to ride with most my weight on the balls of my feet when going quick-so grip is an issue. Plan to use a hydraulic banjo, so any rearset will do-I had assumed the Harris needed the banjo.

DBR have a problem with their site-they have not uploaded images of the rear sets!

The Promach footpegs look great, chunky and well grooeved. I have seen them at Crescent (and brands of course), but there was a fitting issue with the Yoshis on the brake side (resolved with a hammer on race bikes) - the hanger plate ended up too close to the zaust as the plate goes straight back rather than up and back-if that makes sense.

I know you had some Harris ones with fold back tips-a good thing or did they fold when you don't need 'em too?

I haven't experience of the Valter Moto although they don't appeal to me.
The Satos are very grippy being Knurled like the Diamond ones although I've just replaced the pegs with Diamond ones.

I had no problem with the folding tips on the Harris and infact loved them excelent idea IMO.

Cheers. I am starting to lean more toward the Sato's or Harris now.

I was not sure if the Harris tip thing was just a gimick. I think Harris must want to shift some units as they offered me a set for £250 all-in black anodised-which seems pretty good.

good price I paid £110 for a set of 06 ZX6r rearsets last year so they must be wanting to shift them.
