Pleasant surprise
      #41664 - 27/04/2009 21:29

Im in the motions of getting my motor out of my R1 for a refresh by Bob Farnham.
My bike has always gone like shit off a shovel eating even newer R1 models. It turns out that at some point it has been in the hands of engine guru Pete Beale as i found his sticker on the ECU.
In addition when removing the inlet bodies i have found that it has had the inlets ported and polished they do look pretty and helps explain why the thing goes like stink.Cant wait to get it done and back in now, just hope after the refresh i can keep a grip of it

Very nice!

--------------------
Pure speed in sixth gear on a 5000-foot straightaway is one thing, but pure speed in third gear on a gravel-strewn downhill ess-turn is quite another

Sadly Bob Farnham isnt now doing the work shame but it was purely a financial thing,
Still the work is going ahead i got a call today saying the head is off and more good news yamaha Racing YEC gaskets and as i thought the head has been fully gas flowed with some extra machine work ,and in addition some trick pistons.
No doubt all done since the bike was used in BSB Superstock.
I have been doing some of those shit jobs while the motor is away ,cleaning like mad and making sure every moving part is at its best.An arse of a job is removing the rear shock and swinging arm and greasing the needle bearings,a worth while job that doesnt get done on any service i would guess.
