exhaust
      #41870 - 03/05/2009 17:33

Hi not posted for a while, but i was cleaning my bike the other day and noticed black spots on my exhaust. I assume that it's bits of tar or something off the road. I think my exhaust has a chromed outer layer and was just wondering if anyone could recommend a product that will get the spots off. cheers

As said busting out the Autosol is probably going to be the best way.

+1 to the above

but if it is tar and not burnt on then WD40 will break down tar and oil (on a cold exaust) as will a squirt of lighter fuel on a cloth, then make with the polish.

stiff plastic (like a credit card) is a safe-non scratching "chisel" to scrape lumpy bits of with.

don't use wire wool you will scratch the surface

Ah I knew my credit card was good for something.
