Not much pisses me off.
But this did.
Letter from the DVLA - it seems that the photo on my driving licence has reached its expiry date(?!) and if I don't update it, I'll be breaking the law, and will be fined £1000 and have a criminal record. And renewing the photo is going to cost me TWENTY QUID!!
It really pisses me off that a law abiding, average bloke will end up with a bloody great fine and a record just because the photo on his licence is 10 years old. I wouldn't mind, but at age 34 I was short, fat, bald and bespectacled - so nothing's really changed! It seems that the Euro-standard photo driving licence is only valid for 10 years from the date of issue, (because of the photo) and that because I was moving house 10 years ago, and changed to the new licence when my address changed, I now need to buy a new one. Funny thing is, I don't remember being told at the time that I'd need to pay £20 every ten years to keep my licence valid. Only £20 you cry? It's the fuckin' principle, I reply - FFS, I doubt I'd get a £1000 fine for bloody robbery nowadays!
Rant over.

Yeah this came to light for some unfortunate at a track day last year. Before that I didn't realise licences had a 'life' or 10 yearly expiries either.
It's just yet another cynical attempt to get as much wedge out of the average jo as possible. Bunch of wankers, and the fuckers that dream up this shite have got their noses so far in the fucking trough they can't see anything except lining their own pockets. Oh fuck here comes a rant.....
I've made my views clear elsewhere on the way this big brother society has gone. Trouble is the big 'they' have used divide and conquer to get us to where we are today. First it was fox hunters, then smokers, fuck knows who's next - drivers apparently but as long as there are busy bodies poking their unwanted noses into other people's business it will continue.
I'm not a smoker but I'd defend a smokers right to smoke, 'cos once you give way on one issue others will follow. I used to think I was paranoid but I fucking know I'm not now. You and me are easy targets for cash and 'targets' in a world that has gone crazy. Top tip - if you want an easy cheaper life forget being law abiding, turn to crime and you'll get left alone completely.
Come the fucking revolution, starting next Thursday hopefully...

There was an instance where a Traffic Cop...who was one of his Force's top Bike instructors , sent off his licence because of the change of address, and it came back with no entitlement for a motorcycle..the long and short of it..DVLA insisted he had no entitlement & he had to re sit the full motorcycle test....
He turned up for his test on a fully kitted out Police Pan European complete with Blues & Two's and in Police Uniform........
I can just imagine the look on the Examiners face..............Who's watching who here????

What is better is a colour copy-of both sides as well as a copy of the paper bit that goes with the licence. This problem with the DVLA is not unusual I told. Interestingly enough over here about 4 months ago an old boy was taken to court because his licence had expired. He pleaded N/G in the grounds that he hadnt attained the expiry age shown clearly ON THE BACK-the police pointed out that that was not the point. Is was that the licence had expired AFTER TEN YEARS. And its was in the small print on the licence(ours are the same as the UKs) ON THE FRONT. The old boy said it was ridiculous that the back of the licence indicated a "lifetime" period but the front said "a 10 year period" in small print. It was confusing to all. The Court agreed Sent him away without a fine but to get a new licence. I wonder if a biker aged 30 would have got away like that
