Today when I was leaving work I saw in the bike park an X reg Yamahe RD250. It was immaculate . Love to smell it when it was running, 2 stroke is addictive

Ah yea the happy memories of mixing 2T regular decokes and replacement of piston rings, Oh it's not a memory I have 3 of the noisy smoky fucking things.

After three hours of struggle my coked up RGV250 exhaust seal revealed. Despite being run on expensive TTS, the valves and pipes always got coked up and made the bike run slower.

Would I have one today?

Yes! It was a great bike with huge amounts of character. Having to maintain it was all part of the bonding experience.

Given all the electronic and physical gimickary available today, a 2009 RGV would be an awesome prospect with far less maintenance. Two strokes are overdue a come back, they just need a bit of a contemporary technical rethink.
