Yea buy the R6 more reliable, better finish/build quality all IMO obviously and an all round stonking bike.
The Triumph is the apparently better choice for riding on the road if the magazine tests are to be believed due to it's 75cc bigger engine and torque advantage, although they are suposedly close in the handling department. I suppose it depends on what you want really a bike thats easier to ride Triumph or the Yam that IMO is more satisfying to ride looks better and quite possibly will last longer.
BTW I'm biased, if I were given a new Triumph I'd immediately sell it and buy an R6 secondhand or new don't care.

On the other side of the coin, I'd say go for the 675. In virtually every comparative test the Triumph wins hands down, even winning sportsbike of the year in a publication I won't mention! ( for fear of ridicule )
Chappers unfounded comment about the Triumph being less reliable just doesn't hold water in my book. I've had my bike for a year and a half and it looks as though I've just wheeled it out of the showroom, it's pristine. I've had absolutely no issues with it whatsoever and it's tractability is it's main strength and the primary reason I'd say go for the Brit. The R6 is just not as usable for road riding, all the power is at the top end making it much harder work.
In terms of looks, granted the R6 is a beautiful looking bike, slightly too wide at the front for my tastes, but still a real head turner. But you could hardly call the Daytona ugly, I still think it's up there with the best looking bikes. If it was just a beauty contest I'd be torn, but for me the 675 wins hands down because of everything else it has to offer, and of course it's British!

Thanks for your thoughts I made my mind up I've gone british, I just live the look and feel and the dealer ship gave me such a better offer, so even my bank balance is slightly happier

You won't be sorry, you've made a great choice even though I imagine it was a tough decision. It's an awesome bike, get it run in and let rip.

I have had my Daytona since new in sept 07 and can honestly say it is by far the better bike it attracts more looks due mainly to it being different to what everyone else has, also it has won so many accolades since inception and they cannot all be wrong.
My only concern is that if all you guys get one it makes mine less rare!!!

Beats me.

I would have one (providing it stayed light and nimble, and not just a de-bored R1).
