....is my wife.
Birthday time, and she's bought me a Focussed Events "gift day".
I get to choose either Silverstone or Brands, and either 5th, 10th, 13th or 20th August, and she's even hired a bike!
I travel to the track on my trusty old Blackbird, and jump on a track prepped R6 for the entire day!
Now, I haven't done a "proper" trackday since I was 24 years old, and haven't ridden either of the two tracks.
Any advice?

Best advice chose which ever track you like, relax ride in your own comfort zone enjoy the day drink loads of water eat light. Oh and take the Mrs out to dinner when you've done that giver a good seeing to.

Lucky you.
As well as advice already given, rather than just trying to go as fast as possible spend a couple of sessions sorting out gears and braking points. I tend to think "down 2 here, up 3 on the straight, down 1" etc rather than trying to work out what gear I'm actually in.
Once you've got the gear changes and braking points sorted you find you'll be lapping quicker anyway, then if you wish you can start to push a bit harder. As chappers said though stay within your comfort zone and most of all enjoy it.
I also avoid fizzy drinks, I like lots of water and some of the still energy drinks. I don't eat much at lunch, usually a very small pasta and chicken salad and a Mars bar. If you have the option I'd drive there and back rather than ride, but then I'm a soft pussy.
