GSXR starting issue
      #43043 - 02/07/2009 10:46

I've a Gixxer 750 WR 1994 and had the bike from new, FSH and well looked after. Thing is despite me giving it a service to try and eradicate this problem is still won't go away.

When the bike is cold, i.e left over night it will start first thumb of the button, when fully warmed up and you stop for fuel or stop for what ever reason, it just turns over and turns over and won't start. I have to leave it to cool down for a good hour before she'll restart?

Any ideas? I've changed plugs/oil/filters and all makes no difference. It started doing this 2 months ago and has got worse. Like I say from cold perfect, when hot it don't want to know.

Have you checked valve clearances, and carb settings? Sometimes if the valve clearances tighten up too much when hot the bike will be a bitch to start as it will if the mixture is too lean or spark too weak, which brings me to the coils might just be starting to break down when hot.

Thanks chappers, I'll try the valve clearances next, carbs were balanced last month.

This actualy sounds like it could be one of the sensors, or something leading to a sensor (wire), the sensor will pick some fault, in this case it could be something that is getting hot (or more likely a dicky sensor) and warn the ECU of the fault condition. Therefore preventing you from starting the bike till the fault has cleared. Sorry but its difficult to diagnose without actually seeing how the bike is 'wired'.

Another good point, valves first though, got tomorow off work so I'll do them and if that don't cure it, I'll try the wiring.
