Lorenzo gets my hero of the day award - and (unfortunately) James Toesland receives the opposite.
Qualifying 15 and then missing his own pit board for three laps running is just not good enough.
I reckon it has to be a certainty that Ben Spies takes his ride next year.
Damn it damnit, damnit, damnit.

I've been having great fun winding up the Pedrosa haters on Speedzilla a US forum. As a passing comment earlier today I mentioned how funny it would be if Danni or Turdosa as they like to call him won in the USA as they all seem to hate the guy after his torpedoing of Hayden in 2006 been rubbing it in ever since the race finished.

Just exactly what was JT doing, was he blind or something? I really wanted JT to succeed this year, but he's not helping himself is he?

Didn't he come in on the third lap after the board went out but they had black flagged him early, maybe because the board went out after the announcement or sommat?
He wasn't exactly setting the world on fire in last place was he?

He was still in with some points though, even if he was dead last.

and Pedrosa actually smiled! Shame its a bit late in the season for him, but the boy does have some potential, I think JT may well be looking for a new ride next year. Hopefully Casey will be up too scratch in two weeks time as well,

Tour De France more like. That was stupid of him Biaggi may well have gotten away with it with his team but Toesland can't they clearly held a board up for him saying penalty he's now cost his team a couple of points in the manufacturers standings.

In fairness to him, it's been said on a number of occasions how difficult it is to see the pit boards at Laguna, and he reckons so early in the race he just wasn't looking for his board. It was only when he saw the black flag that he came in. I think it's a pretty harsh decision when you look at the start again, but he's in a shitstorm at the moment and nothing seems to be going right for him. As things stand he just doesn't deserve the ride for next year, it pains me to say that, but it would be a travesty if he held onto it over Edwards.

While it's fair to say JT has had a pretty dismal year this year, especially after a promising first season there are plenty of riders in the series that aren't a great deal better that have been holding on to their seats for years.
Vermuelen & Edwards both spring to mind.
As to the race itself another bore IMHO. Strange how we get an exciting race and you just think the series is going to light up and then it goes back to snooze. Except for Lorenzo attempting to throw it up the inside of Rossi and Rossi suddenly closing Pedrosa down on the last lap, the only other talking point was JT not seeing a pit board.
Hopefully Lorenzo and/or Stoner will be able to keep Rossi in sight in the championship or it really will be a cure for insomnia.

Ok, so what stands out more, a brightly coloured pit board or a black flag. Not looking for the board, ok. Not an excuse, sorry!

True, true. I agree with you to some extent about Vermuelen and Edwards, but the cold hard facts for JT are that in every session and qualifier he's been behind his team mate, a situation that's done him no favours. I'd love to see the rest of his season take a dramatic up turn, but frankly, as things stand I just can't see it.

Yep, but the trouble is JT is on a Yam, Edwards is doing far better than JT (plus JT went and picked a fight with him and lost) and Ben Spies is also a Yam rider who is very impressive and on a roll. The seat is all but lost for JT.

Yeah I agree, I'm not even saying JT should keep his ride, although I'd like him too but he really doesn't deserve it on this seasons' showing.
What I mean is there seems to be a 'face fits' culture in MotoGP more than the any other series. If it were on results following expectation Edwards and Vermuelen should have lost their rides season's ago. Not that they are the only ones.

I see what you mean. Probably Vemuelen and Edwards are value to their teams for other reasons too.
Edwards tends to qualify better than he races, and does he not have a very good rep for giving great bike setup and development feedback.
Vemuelen is heavily sponsored by frayed hat sellers.

Bought the comic last Sat and I see that they are talking about Spies and Toesland *swapping* rides if Spies gets the title. Frankly I think that is the best option for JT.
If he stays in motoGP I imagine it will be with Team Back-of-grid.
Also saw they say Stoner is about to be tested for Epstein Barr - just a couple of degrees away from ME -which we predicted here.
