Reclaim North Wales Protest - congratulations
      #44284 - 17/09/2009 12:21

Really pleased to see what a huge success the Reclaim North Wales protest was.

I think MCN (bless 'em) thought a few hundred might show up, in fact thousands rallied, up filling all the stop off points to overflowing.

The NW WalesPolice reaction was somewhat muted...

This is the Police reaction

but amusingly, when a Journo spotted an unmarked car "monitoring traffic" and took a picture of it, the cop inside got ansey and took the camera, here is the story...

I know we give MCN a hard time about their scoops and scaries but this ride out really does them and all who took part (very peaceably BTW) a lot of credit. Makes me proud to be a biker.

You have to take your hat off to MCN for all the slagging they get they are the only members of the press that actually do anything to protect bikers rights so all other mags and journos can hang their heads in shame.

Read the comment from the copper on that page. Makes for some interesting reading to hear from both sides.

I know as a "local news" item, monthly mags won't carry much. It is strange there has been so little in the sports bike oriented press seeing as it is sports bikes that are primarily being targeted. Having a quick look online, nothing has appeared yet either-now that really does look a bit blinkered.

I wonder if they monthlies give a fuck TBH, far too much petty bitching seems to go on between the different publishers you've only got to read the pathetic Bullshit detector for proof nah they'll take our cash whilst they can then move on IMO.
I've stepped back a bit over the last few months and taken a longer look and don't like what I've seen I guess I've been blinkered myself over the last few years and understand why some of my freinds don't bother with any of the mags.

Just read your piece on the reclaim N,Wales, and was impressed with your bit about the glossy mags not covering the event. But you see, they like to go fast on closed roads or race tracks, and then tell us its ok to ride like a twat cos we buy the mags,I live in Wales ,and yes since brunstrum has fucked off the world is a better place, unless your a real criminal because the new man seems to be going after them instaed of us for now anyway,we'll have to wait to summer to get the real picture. But still I expected at least something in the maggs, TUT!!, TUT!!

Yep, the mags do seem to try and keep far too squeeky clean. I don't know what the editorial pressure is but it's not only FB that has a blind spot for Policing loons.

Frankly MCN is the only national publication I know of that has consistently reported and campaigned on the matter.

Aye, the closed public road I ride to work on every day is great. Shellgrip everywhere, and under-tarmac heating for winter.

There's a lot in what you say. And if SuperBike had the resources MCN has, then maybe we would have a full-time person devoted to scare stories about 'the man'. Sadly, we don't. And even if we did, do you think it would make any difference? When a million folk can't stop a war of aggression by marching? Hmmm.

Anyway - MCN's 'campaigns' are nothing more than marketing dressed up as political activism, run by their 'militant-lite' newsdesk hacks. The notion SuperBike should help Bauer shut us down by supporting them is risible. Discuss.

I am not going to become a stalwart defender of the comic, but they do *follow* stories, beyond sensation and headline.

For instance, I am very grateful to them for their successful Bike lane campaign, their continued harassing of speed trap "anomalies" nationwide and calling government on bogus anti bike statistics.

I fully appreciate you guys are over stretched, but the "Reclaim North Wales Protest" became a huge rally and very specific to sports bike riders hearts too. I hope sports bike mags didn't blank it simply because MCN started it.

If protest works so well as promotion, maybe it should be on the SB to do list.
