The Lowdown
Made by forming stainless pipes inside shaped tools, using high-pressure water, hydroformed pipes form a smoother path inside to improve gas flow. The resulting thin-walled headers are lighter, tougher and boost power.
Build quality
Micron's pipes are generally pretty high-quality, and this kit is no exception. Made from 304-spec stainless steel, the brushed finish is attractive and hard-wearing. All the joints are spring-mounted, but some of the sleeves on our pipework were a very tight fit, needing a bit of persuasion to slip on. End can is an Ultralite titanium race part, which gives 'considerable' weight savings.
Performance
Micron claims a seven bhp increase in peak power, with any midrange dips smoothed out. We'd recommend some sort of fueling adjustment method – a Power Commander or similar for optimum mixture adjustment.
Value
The header pipes cost £499.99, plus another £359.99 for the Ultralite silencer. Cheaper silencers are available – from £159.99. Not cheap, but reasonable for a top-spec full race system.
