GPR dampers in the UK
For those who have had trouble getting their hands on US GPR steering dampers, help may be at hand. UK company Track Parts has been appointed as the official distributor for GPR Steering Dampers in the UK and Ireland.
Track Parts has worked with GPR in the UK since 2004, supplying the MIST Suzuki Racing team. Here's the slightly edited press release!
Trackparts has sold GPR Dampers through its website (www.trackparts.co.uk) and also used them on our race bikes in the European SuperStock Championship. In 2009 we will use GPR Dampers on the GSX-R1000 K9 race bikes we will use in the British Superbike Cup championship.
Track Parts did a lot of work with GPR in the US on the very first version 4 prototypes in early 2007 and have used all the different revisions, and encountered all of the various problems, since that time. GPR USA sponsored the team in a small way initially and their input has steadily grown over the last couple of seasons to the point where they worked alongside us in the World Superbike paddock and we tested their products before they were put in to production.
Mike Edwards of Track Parts said, "For 2009 GPR decided to streamline their efforts and asked if we could combine our experience with their products and our business relationship through the team with distributing and supporting the products in the UK. We intend to keep plenty of product in stock and will continue to offer the lifetime warranty that GPR is famous for. We will be setting up a number of service centres around the country that will rebuild any damper for £25 plus postage, including replacing all seals and filling with fresh oil if required."
Track Parts will have race support available in several race paddocks during the season ranging from British SuperBikes or Bemsee and MRO race meetings through to having someone onsite at the TT, Manx, NW200 and beyond.
The Version 4 dampers and fitting kits retail for £365 (incl. VAT) for most models. The only exception is for Ducati, MV and Buell models where the retail price is £385 (incl. VAT). Track Parts will also be stocking the motocross dampers and those for the ATV market.
Track Parts will be distributing new price lists and part numbers, etc. to our dealer network in the next couple of weeks and proactively seeking out new dealers to expand the coverage around the UK and Ireland.
